Product Overview
The Biamp Voltera D 4800.4 is a four-channel networked amplified loudspeaker controller that delivers 4800 W of Class D amplification with integrated DSP for loudspeaker management in a single rack unit. It is built for commercial AV integrators who need high power and channel density in one networked device. As a rack-mount amplifier, the Voltera D 4800.4 drives low-impedance, 70V, or 100V loudspeakers and supports AVB, Dante, and AES67 for deployment on a converged AV network. It is designed for venues of any size, from restaurants to stadiums.
Product Description
The Voltera D 4800.4 integrates amplification, loudspeaker processing, and networked audio so a single chassis replaces a stack of separate hardware. Its integrated DSP provides the essential capabilities needed for loudspeaker management, including group-controlled raised cosine EQ, FIR filtering, dynamic EQ, and comprehensive peak and thermal limiters that help avoid protective mutes and shutdowns. Each of the four channels drives 2.7, 4, 8, or 16 ohm loads as well as 70V and 100V constant-voltage lines, configured from the loudspeaker profile chosen during commissioning. Power sharing provides up to 75% of total power through any single channel, matching amplifier output to uneven loudspeaker loads. The amplifier is 100% software configurable by Biamp Tesira or VenueTune, and VenueTune offers a phased workflow with a graphical interface and support for importing floorplans. The ALAMOS loudspeaker profile library covers more than 200 Biamp models to speed commissioning. Because processing lives on each device rather than a central resource, system cost scales with power requirements. The unit can be sustained through PoE+ so the processor stays online without a reboot during a mains power loss, and it supports failover-to-analog operation. Integrators can compare the DSP-heavy Voltera D 4800.4M and the two-channel Voltera D 4800.2M, or view the full Biamp collection.
Key Features
- 4800 W Across Four Channels — The amplifier delivers 4800 W total with all channels driven, supplying 1200 W per channel for demanding commercial loudspeaker systems.
- Integrated Loudspeaker DSP — On-device DSP provides raised cosine EQ, 2048-tap FIR, dynamic EQ, and peak and thermal limiters for loudspeaker management.
- Networked Audio Support — Each unit supports AVB, Dante, and AES67 over two 1000Base-T ports in converged, split, or redundant network modes.
- Power Sharing — Power sharing provides up to 75% of total power through any single channel to match uneven loudspeaker loads.
- Flexible Output Drive — Every channel drives 2.7, 4, 8, and 16 ohm low-impedance loads as well as 70V and 100V constant-voltage lines.
- PoE+ Processor Sustain — When port 1 is connected to a PoE+ switch on a UPS, the processor stays online through a mains power loss without rebooting.
- VenueTune Workflow — VenueTune guides system designers with a phased workflow, graphical control, and floorplan import.
- Single Rack Unit — The 1 RU chassis provides high power and channel density where rack space is limited.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Voltera D 4800.4 and the 4800.4M?
Both deliver 4800 W across four channels. The 4800.4 includes integrated DSP for loudspeaker management, while the 4800.4M adds a fully programmable DSP with headroom equivalent to a TesiraFORTÉ for more complex processing.
Which loudspeakers can it drive?
Each channel drives 2.7, 4, 8, and 16 ohm low-impedance loads as well as 70V and 100V constant-voltage lines, configured through the loudspeaker profile selected during setup.
What audio networks does it support?
It supports AVB, Dante, and AES67 over two 1000Base-T ports and can run in converged, split, or redundant network modes.
How is it configured for AV system integration?
The amplifier is 100% software configurable using Biamp Tesira or VenueTune, and VenueTune offers a phased workflow with floorplan import to guide installers.
Will it stay online during a power outage?
If port 1 is connected to a PoE+ switch backed by a UPS, the processor is sustained through a mains power loss without rebooting, and the unit supports failover-to-analog operation.
How much rack space does it need?
The chassis occupies a single rack unit (1 RU) and ships with a rear support kit for 19-inch rack mounting.
What warranty and compliance does it carry?
The Voltera D series carries a 5-year warranty and is compliant with the US Trade Agreement Act (TAA).
