The AT8022 places two capsules in a coincident X/Y configuration, producing a stereo image with strong spatial realism while keeping the housing small. This makes it practical for location recording, ambience capture, and broadcast where carrying a single stereo microphone is easier than a matched pair.
A switch selects flat response or an integral 80 Hz high-pass filter to control low-frequency noise. The microphone handles up to 128 dB SPL on phantom power (120 dB on battery) with a 109 dB dynamic range, and measures 186.0 mm long.
For a fixed-install, mains-powered single-point stereo option, the AT4050ST offers mid-side stereo with internal matrixing.
