What is the AUDAC NIO204 Dante breakout box?
The AUDAC NIO204 is a Dante/AES67 network I/O mixing breakout box that converts four channels of networked audio into four balanced line outputs. It is powered by standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af), draws just 3.59 W, and adds a Bluetooth 4.2 receiver plus built-in DSP. Integrators use it to feed analog amplifiers, recorders or local equipment from a Dante network in retail, education, corporate and hospitality installations.
How does the AUDAC NIO204 Dante breakout box work?

The NIO204 receives four Dante/AES67 channels and a Bluetooth source, mixes them through a 6-channel mixer, and delivers the result on four balanced line outputs over 3-pin Euro terminal blocks. AUDAC designed the NIO series to process audio where it is captured or delivered, so EQ, automatic gain control, noise gate, maximum volume and WaveTune settings are configured on the box itself through AUDAC Touch. Those processed signals are also available on the Dante/AES67 network, which saves channels on the receiving devices. Power and audio share a single RJ45 connection with indicator LEDs, so no local power supply is needed at the installation point. A typical use is adding a Dante input, mixer and DSP to an analog amplifier, or providing extra physical I/O for a TouchLink setup. The compact enclosure measures 4.25 x 1.73 x 6.50 in and weighs about 1.06 lb. With the optional MBS1xx setup box accessories, such as the MBS101T tabletop/wall/ceiling mount or the MBS101R rack mount kit, the NIO204 can be mounted under a desk, on a wall, above a dropped ceiling or in a 19" rack. For microphone inputs on the same network, pair it with the NIO240 (4 mic/line inputs) or choose the NIO222 (2 in / 2 out).
What are the key features of the AUDAC NIO204 Dante breakout box?
- 4 balanced line outputs — Four 3-pin Euro terminal block outputs feed amplifiers, recorders or other analog equipment from the Dante network.
- Dante/AES67 networking — The unit sends and receives four channels in each direction on Dante or AES67 audio networks.
- PoE powered — IEEE 802.3af PoE powers the box over the network cable with 3.59 W consumption.
- Bluetooth 4.2 receiver — A built-in Bluetooth receiver adds a wireless music source with the included antenna.
- 6-channel mixer — Network and Bluetooth sources are mixed on board before reaching the outputs or the network.
- Embedded DSP — Gain, AGC, maximum volume, noise gate and WaveTune settings are configured through AUDAC Touch.
- Flexible mounting — Optional MBS1xx accessories allow desk, wall, ceiling or 19" rack installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the NIO204 need a separate power supply?
No. It is powered by a standard IEEE 802.3af PoE switch or injector and consumes 3.59 W.
Is it compatible with third-party Dante devices?
Yes. It transmits and receives audio on Dante and AES67 networks, so it works with Dante-enabled consoles, DSPs and amplifiers from other manufacturers.
How is the DSP configured?
EQ, AGC, noise gate, gain, maximum volume and mixer settings are configured through AUDAC Touch.
Does it have microphone inputs?
The NIO204 is the output model. For four mic/line inputs choose the NIO240, or the NIO222 for two inputs and two outputs.
How is it mounted?
It is a compact box that can sit under a desk or be fixed with the optional MBS1xx accessories for wall, ceiling or 19" rack installation.
