The AUDAC IMP40 is a SourceCon internet radio player module that installs in the XMP44 modular audio player and in the MFA208 and MFA216 all-in-one mixer amplifiers. It streams MP3, WMA and AAC stations from the vTuner database of more than 30,000 channels, plus custom streams. Linum technology and USB backup playback keep background music running when the internet connection drops.

How does the AUDAC IMP40 internet audio player module work?

SourceCon modules slide into guide rails and connect through board-edge connectors, so the IMP40 is discovered and ready to use as soon as it is inserted, with no internal wiring or configuration. The module connects to the local network through an RJ45 port with indicator LEDs. Stations are selected from the vTuner database by genre, location or language, and up to 100 custom streams can be stored in a preference list. AUDAC Linum technology prevents unwanted behavior such as sudden channel hopping or music stops. If the stream is interrupted, the module switches automatically to a connected USB drive or hard disk and then restores the stream once the connection returns, which avoids silence in retail and hospitality spaces. Playback supports MP3 files on FAT16 and FAT32 formatted USB media. Audio leaves the module on balanced stereo line outputs through two 3-pin terminal blocks, with a 20 Hz – 20 kHz response and 80 dB crosstalk at 1 kHz. In an XMP44, the IMP40 can run alongside other modules such as the NMP40, BMP42 or DMP42, and the whole system is controlled from the AUDAC Touch app.
