Product Overview
The Adder XD612T-DP-US is the transmitter unit of the AdderLink XD612 high-definition DisplayPort KVM extender, connecting at the computer side to send single-head or dual-head video at up to 1920x1200@60Hz per screen down a single CATx or fiber link. Using DisplayPort 1.2 Multi-Stream Transport (MST), this DisplayPort KVM extender transmitter carries both video heads, USB 2.0, audio, and RS232 over one cable — up to 100m on CAT6 copper or 4km over optical fiber with SFP+ modules. It is the host-side half of a low-latency KVM extension link for critical computers that must live away from the operator.
Product Description
The XD612 transmitter installs next to the source computer — typically in a rack, equipment room, or data center — and captures a single DisplayPort 1.2 MST output carrying up to two HD video streams, plus USB and audio.

A local DisplayPort pass-through output on the transmitter allows a monitor at the rack for maintenance, while EDID management passes the remote monitors' capabilities back to the host graphics card for correct mode negotiation. The point-to-point extension protocol is plug and play — no network setup, drivers, or software — and its low latency preserves a local desktop feel at the far end.

Two USB 2.0 Type B connections employ Adder's True Emulation so HID devices at the receiver behave as if plugged directly into the computer. Bi-directional analog audio runs at 24-bit/96kHz through 3.5mm jacks or a USB connection to the host, and two channels of 24-bit/192kHz PCM audio are supported over DisplayPort. RS232 passes through at up to 115200 baud with RTS/CTS flow control. Both RJ45 and SFP+ link ports are fitted, so the same unit deploys on copper today and fiber later. The fanless metal chassis is rated 0–40°C with a 500,000-hour calculated MTBF. Pair it with the Adder XD612R-DP-US receiver, and find accessories in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.
Key Features

- Copper and Fiber Link Ports — Built-in RJ45 for up to 100m over CAT6 and SFP+ cage for fiber runs up to 4km (modules sold separately).
- Local Video Pass-Through — A DisplayPort console output at the transmitter supports a rack-side maintenance monitor.
- True Emulation USB 2.0 — Reliable host-side USB connections for remote HID devices from keyboards to graphics tablets.
- Plug-and-Play Operation — Low-latency point-to-point protocol with no network configuration, drivers, or software required.
- Bi-Directional Audio — 24-bit/96kHz analog stereo via 3.5mm jacks or USB to the host, plus 24-bit/192kHz PCM over DisplayPort.
- RS232 Pass-Through — Serial communication to 115200 baud with RTS/CTS flow control.
- EDID Management — Remote monitor capabilities are presented to the host for optimal graphics output.
- Fanless Reliability — Silent metal enclosure with a 500,000-hour calculated MTBF (Telcordia SR332).
Typical Applications
- Broadcast studio — remove workstation noise and heat from production and edit suites.
- Government space — keep host computers physically secured while consoles extend to the operations floor.
- Boardroom — feed dual-display positions from rack-mounted presentation PCs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the XD612T-DP-US a 4K extender?
No. The vendor rates the XD612 at up to 1920x1200@60Hz per screen, single or dual head via MST. For dual-head 4K60 extension, ask Creation Networks about the AdderLink XD642 series.
Does the computer need two DisplayPort outputs for dual-head operation?
No. Dual-head video is delivered through a single DisplayPort 1.2 MST connection from the graphics card; the receiver splits it to two monitors.
Which receiver pairs with this transmitter?
The Adder XD612R-DP-US receiver completes the extension link.
Can I see the computer's output at the rack?
Yes. The transmitter includes a local DisplayPort pass-through output for a maintenance monitor at the host side.
Can I switch from copper to fiber later?
Yes. Both RJ45 and SFP+ link ports are built in; add Adder SFP+ fiber modules when you need runs beyond 100m, up to 4km.
What operating systems are supported?
All known operating systems — the extension is transparent to the host, requiring no drivers or software.
