The Adder CATX-MDP-USBA is a Mini DisplayPort computer access module (CAM) that connects a Mini DisplayPort-equipped computer to AdderView CATx KVM switches and AdderLink extender receivers over a single CATx cable run of up to 300 meters. This compact CATx KVM interface module attaches to the computer's Mini DisplayPort video output, a USB port, and the audio output, presenting an RJ45 socket for the structured-cabling link. Like its full-size sibling, this Mini DisplayPort CAM for KVM extension is powered entirely from the host computer's USB port, so no separate power supply is needed.

AdderView CATx switching systems and AdderLink X100/X200 extension links rely on computer access modules to translate each machine's native video, USB, and audio interfaces onto the CATx link. The CATX-MDP-USBA is the variant for computers and graphics cards fitted with Mini DisplayPort outputs, combining that video connection with USB for keyboard and mouse and a 3.5mm jack for stereo audio.

Adder specifies operation over CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6 cabling, with the connected switch or receiver positioned up to 300 meters from the module. Maximum resolution scales with distance: 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz is achievable at up to 200 meters, and 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz at up to 300 meters. Power is derived from the host USB port rather than from Mini DisplayPort, so the USB cable must connect to a computer port capable of supplying up to 500mA.

For mixed fleets, the CAM architecture lets a single AdderView CATx switch serve machines with different video outputs — each computer simply takes the module matching its connector. Machines with full-size DisplayPort use the companion CATX-DP-USBA DisplayPort module.
