The Adder CATX-DP-USBA is a DisplayPort computer access module (CAM) that connects a DisplayPort-equipped computer to AdderView CATx KVM switches and AdderLink extender receivers over a single CATx cable run of up to 300 meters. This compact CATx KVM interface module attaches to the computer's DisplayPort video output, a USB port, and the audio output, then presents an RJ45 socket for the structured-cabling link. Power is derived from the host computer's USB port, so this DisplayPort CAM for KVM extension installs without any separate power supply.

Product Description

In an AdderView CATx switching system or an AdderLink X100/X200 extension link, every connected computer needs an access module that converts its native video, USB, and audio interfaces onto the CATx link. The CATX-DP-USBA is the variant for machines with full-size DisplayPort outputs — common across business desktops and graphics workstations — paired with USB for keyboard and mouse and a 3.5mm jack for audio.

Adder specifies operation over CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6 cabling, with the connected switch or receiver located up to 300 meters from the module. Maximum achievable resolution scales with distance: 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz is supported at up to 200 meters, and 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz at up to 300 meters. The module draws its power from the host USB port — not from DisplayPort — so the USB cable must connect to a computer port capable of supplying up to 500mA.

Because the CAM handles the interface conversion at the computer end, server rooms can standardize on inexpensive CATx infrastructure between racks and operator positions while mixing video standards across machines — each computer simply uses the CAM matching its output.
