Product Overview
The Adder C-USB-LAN-TX is the transmitter unit of Adder's C-USB LAN system, a high-performance USB 2.0 extender over Gigabit Ethernet that lets you locate critical computing hardware away from the user workstation while preserving the original desktop experience. It transmits transparent, high-speed USB 2.0 over a single CATx cable up to 100m (328 ft.) or across a 1GbE IP network. Integrators searching for a USB 2.0 extender over CATx, a USB over IP transmitter for KVM matrix systems, or a driverless long-range USB extension solution will find the C-USB-LAN purpose-built for professional AV installations.
Product Description
The transmitter connects to the host computer through a single USB Type B port and links to its matching receiver over standard CAT5e or better cabling — either point to point or routed through a Gigabit Ethernet network. At the far end, the receiver presents four USB Type A ports for peripherals. Operation is completely transparent: no drivers or software are required, and USB devices behave exactly as if they were plugged directly into the computer.

Device support is unusually broad for a network USB extender. Beyond keyboards, mice, touch screens, graphics tablets, jog shuttles, joysticks and 3D explorers, the C-USB LAN also handles mass storage devices and isochronous devices such as webcams, headsets and microphones — classes that many extenders cannot carry reliably. USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices are fully supported, and USB 3.0 devices operate in USB 2.0 compatibility mode at up to 480Mbps.

In larger systems, the C-USB-LAN can be controlled and switched by the AdderLink INFINITY Manager (AIM) and programmed to switch in tandem with, or independently of, AdderLink INFINITY endpoints — adding flexible USB routing to an IP KVM matrix. An open API supports authorized third-party control system integration. Units ship in a zero-config state; when supplied as a pair they are pre-synchronized and locate each other automatically on the network.
This listing is for the transmitter only. Pair it with the matching Adder C-USB-LAN-RX receiver to complete the link, and browse the full Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need the receiver as well?
Yes. The transmitter connects to the host computer and must be paired with a C-USB-LAN-RX receiver, which provides the four USB Type A device ports at the remote end.
Can it run over my existing network?
Yes. The link operates point to point over CATx or through a 1GbE IP network. Note that 10/100 networks are not supported — Gigabit Ethernet is required.
Will webcams and headsets work?
Yes. Isochronous USB devices such as webcams, headsets and microphones are supported, along with mass storage and HID devices.
Are drivers required?
No. Operation is fully transparent to the host computer, the peripherals and the user; units ship in a zero-config state.
Does it integrate with Adder KVM matrix systems?
Yes. The C-USB-LAN can be controlled and switched by AdderLink INFINITY Manager (AIM) and programmed to switch in tandem with or independently of ALIF units. An open API is also available for third-party control.
What happens with USB 3.0 devices?
USB 3.0 devices operate in USB 2.0 compatibility mode at up to 480Mbps.
