Product Overview

The Adder AVM-C110-CAM-HM is a ZeroU HDMI computer access module (CAM) that attaches an HDMI-equipped computer to an AdderView Matrix IP KVM system, carrying pixel-perfect video, digital audio and USB 2.0 over a single CATx cable or 1GbE network. Powered directly from the host's USB ports at under 3 watts typical, it needs no external PSU and occupies no rack space. Anyone specifying an HDMI KVM transmitter dongle, a ZeroU computer access module for an IP KVM matrix, or an HDMI over IP KVM extender for source machines will find the C110 HDMI CAM a compact, plug-and-play answer.

Product Description

Every source computer in an AdderView Matrix needs a CAM, and the C110 HM is the HDMI member of the C100 Series family. Its integrated 300mm flying leads connect to the computer's HDMI output and two USB-A ports, with a single RJ45 link carrying everything to the matrix — point to point to a user station, or through standard Gigabit Ethernet switching for full any-source-to-any-desk routing.

Adder AVM-C110-CAM-HM ZeroU HDMI computer access module for AdderView Matrix

The C100 Series video engine uses spatially-lossless encoding with 1:1 pixel mapping, delivering pixel-perfect, color-accurate images at resolutions up to 2560 x 1600 at 60Hz with no visible artifacts — and it tolerates dithered or noisy video such as that produced by some Mac computers. Intelligent EDID management passes the true characteristics of the destination monitor back to the source, or presents a fixed EDID for predictable behavior as desks switch between sources.

USB 2.0 with True Emulation supports keyboards, mice, graphics tablets, jog shuttles, joysticks, card readers, 3D explorers and mass storage devices, and class-control policies let administrators disable specific device types in security-conscious deployments. Digital stereo audio is delivered bi-directionally over USB or unidirectionally embedded with the video. Devices ship zero-config: plug in, link up, and the CAM is available to the matrix with no drivers or software on the host. Each CAM can be reached by up to 256 user stations, so the same module serves a two-room install or a facility-wide system.

Working with DisplayPort sources instead? Choose the matching AVM-C110-CAM-DP DisplayPort computer access module, and find user stations and matrix switches in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • ZeroU Form Factor — Installs at the source computer on a 300mm flying lead, taking zero rack units in the server room.
  • USB Powered — Runs from two host USB 2.0 ports at under 3W typical, with optional external or redundant 5VDC power.
  • Pixel-Perfect Video to 2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz — Spatially-lossless 1:1 pixel-mapped encoding keeps images color-accurate and artifact-free in real time.
  • HDMI Connectivity — Direct HDMI input for the broad base of HDMI-equipped PCs, media servers and workstations.
  • USB 2.0 with True Emulation and Class Control — Supports HID, tablets, jog shuttles, card readers and mass storage, with per-class disable policies available.
  • Digital Audio — Bi-directional USB stereo audio or unidirectional embedded video audio.
  • Intelligent EDID Management — True monitor EDID pass-back or fixed EDID profiles for consistent matrix switching.
  • Dithered Video Support — Passes dithered or noisy video cleanly, including output from some Mac computers.
  • Zero-Config Plug and Play — No drivers or software; the CAM is ready for the matrix out of the box.

Typical Applications

  • Broadcast studio — join HDMI playout, graphics and monitoring machines to the facility KVM matrix.
  • Boardroom — route a resident HDMI PC to room user stations over the building network.
  • Commercial meeting space — share centrally racked HDMI sources across multiple rooms on 1GbE.
  • Government space — connect sources with USB device-class restrictions enforced at the CAM.
  • Training room — distribute lab machines to instructor and learner positions through the matrix.
  • Auditorium — deliver rack-room presentation computers to stage and FOH positions over one CATx run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this module need an external power supply?
No. It draws under 3 watts and powers from the host's USB ports; external and redundant PSU options exist for hosts with limited USB power budgets.

What is the difference between the HM and DP versions?
Only the video input: the HM connects HDMI sources while the AVM-C110-CAM-DP connects DisplayPort (DP++) sources. Both share the same C100 Series matrix architecture.

Can it run across my existing Gigabit network?
Yes — point to point over CATx up to 100m, or through 1GbE network switching for full matrix routing; preconfigured AVM matrix switches are also available.

How many user stations can reach one CAM?
Up to 256 user stations can connect to a single C110 computer access module across the matrix.

Is the video compressed?
The encoding is spatially lossless with 1:1 pixel mapping, so video is pixel-perfect and color-accurate with no visible artifacts.

Do I need to install drivers on the source computer?
No. The CAM is plug and play, ships in a zero-config state, and is transparent to the host operating system.

Can USB device types be restricted?
Yes. USB class control lets the system disable specific categories of devices, such as mass storage, where policy requires.
