Product Overview
The Adder ALIF102T-DP is an ADDERLink INFINITY 102T DisplayPort ZeroU IP KVM transmitter that extends video, audio, and USB from a computer over a single CATx network cable — while occupying zero rack units and drawing power directly from the host's USB ports. As a USB-powered IP KVM transmitter, it delivers spatially lossless DisplayPort video up to 2560x1600@60Hz across standard 1GbE infrastructure to ADDERLink INFINITY receivers. The compact dongle format makes this DisplayPort KVM over IP transmitter ideal for dense server rooms where every rack unit and power outlet counts.
Product Description
Where traditional extender transmitters consume rack space and a power supply per computer, the ALIF102T-DP hangs directly behind the server on a 300mm flying lead. It connects via a full-size dual-mode DisplayPort 1.1 (DP++) plug and two USB 2.0 connectors that both carry data and supply the unit's sub-3-watt power requirement — no external PSU to provision, though external and redundant 5V power options exist for installations that require them.

Video is encoded with Adder's spatially lossless system using 1:1 pixel mapping, so the digital video arriving at the receiver is identical to what left the computer — pixel-perfect and color accurate with no artifacts, including support for dithered video from sources such as some Mac computers. USB 2.0 True Emulation handles graphics tablets, jog shuttles, joysticks, and 3D explorers as well as mass storage, with class control to disable non-HID devices in secure applications. Digital audio runs as bi-directional USB stereo or uni-directional embedded stereo, and intelligent EDID management passes true monitor characteristics back to the source.

Each ALIF102T works as a point-to-point extender or in a self-managed distributed KVM switch where every receiver can see and rapidly switch between up to 16 sources. Adding the ADDERLink INFINITY Manager (AIM) scales the deployment into a full matrix where any workstation links to any networked computer. The transmitter requires at least one ALIF receiver to operate; find receivers, PoE splitters, and more in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- ZeroU Form Factor — The 55 x 25 x 110 mm dongle mounts behind the server on a 300mm flying lead, consuming no rack space.
- USB Powered — Draws under 3 watts from two USB 2.0 host connections, eliminating the external PSU; optional external or redundant 5V power is available.
- Spatially Lossless Video — 1:1 pixel mapping delivers pixel-perfect, color-accurate DisplayPort video up to 2560x1600@60Hz with no artifacts.
- USB 2.0 True Emulation with Class Control — Supports tablets, jog shuttles, joysticks, and storage, with the option to disable non-HID devices for security.
- Extender or 16-Source Switch — Operates point-to-point or in a self-managed distributed KVM switch where each receiver switches among up to 16 sources.
- Matrix Scalability via AIM — The ADDERLink INFINITY Manager converts extenders into a full any-to-any digital KVM matrix.
- Digital Audio — Bi-directional USB stereo (16-bit/48kHz) or uni-directional embedded stereo audio.
- Dithered Video Support — Passes noisy or dithered video from sources including some Mac computers without degradation.
- EDID Management and Plug and Play — True monitor characteristics reach the computer automatically; zero-configuration deployment with no drivers.
- High Reliability — 1,300,000-hour MTBF (Telcordia SR332) and 0-50 C operating range suit dense, always-on server environments.
Typical Applications
- Broadcast studio server rooms feeding production user stations
- Government space deployments separating computers from operators
- Training room source computers centralized in equipment racks
- Commercial meeting space systems served from a central rack room
- Multi-purpose room installations sharing racked PCs across stations

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the ALIF102T-DP work standalone?
No. It is a transmitter and requires at least one ADDERLink INFINITY receiver on the network to deliver the desktop to a user station.
What source requirements apply?
The computer's DisplayPort output must be Dual-Mode (DP++) compliant. Video up to 2560x1600@60Hz at 8 bits per channel is supported.
Does it really need no power supply?
In most installations, yes — the two USB connections supply the unit's sub-3W draw. An external 5V option and redundant powering are available where USB power is insufficient or redundancy is required.
How many computers can a user switch between?
Without a manager, each ALIF receiver can see and switch between up to 16 ALIF102T sources. With the AIM manager, the system scales to a full matrix with advanced management and an API (supported on ALIF1100, ALIF2100, ALIF4000, and ALIF102T).
What cabling and distance are supported?
CAT5e or better, up to 100m / 328ft per 1GbE network segment; segments can be chained through network switches for longer total distances.
How does it differ from the ALIF102T-HM?
The two models are functionally equivalent; the -DP variant connects to DisplayPort sources while the -HM connects to HDMI sources.
