Uniguest IPTV Video Encoders (0 products)

Uniguest MediaStar and ENCOD3R encoders — HD and 4K HEVC appliances and blades with SDI, HDMI and component inputs, for putting live sources onto an IPTV network.

Encoders handle the sources broadcast gateways cannot

A gateway converts broadcast RF. An encoder takes a baseband video source — a camera, a lectern PC, a production switcher output, a courtroom feed — and compresses it into an IP stream.

In practice most installations need both: gateways for television, encoders for everything the building generates itself.

Latency is the specification that matters

Standard encoding introduces delay of several seconds, which is fine for television distribution and unacceptable for anything interactive. If a presenter is on camera and the audience is watching a screen in the same room, delay is immediately visible.

The ENCOD3R-LH2 and ENCOD3R-LK41/LK42 are low-latency models for exactly that case — overflow rooms, lecture capture with live relay, command centres, houses of worship. Specify low latency where the source and the screen share a space.

HEVC or H.264

HEVC (H.265) delivers 4K at roughly half the bitrate of H.264, which matters on a constrained network. The trade is decoder support — every endpoint has to handle HEVC, so confirm the player side before committing the headend.

The ENCOD3R-LK41/LK42 covers 4K HEVC; the 798 blade handles H.264 HD with an HDCP Pro option.

HDCP is not a detail

Protected sources — streaming boxes, Blu-ray, some laptops — will not pass through an encoder without HDCP handling. The 798 offers an HDCP Pro option for that reason. Establish which sources are protected during design, because the fix after installation is a hardware change.

Blade models need a chassis

The 798 is a blade and mounts in a MediaStar chassis (769 single-slot or 770 multi-slot). The 785 and the ENCOD3R range are standalone 1U appliances.

Creation Networks specifies encoding against the actual sources, confirms latency and HDCP requirements before ordering, and commissions the result. Call 888-230-3661 or email sales@creationnetworks.net.

Uniguest FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions — Uniguest IPTV & Digital Signage

Straight answers on Uniguest MediaStar and Hub AV IPTV headends, encoders, transcoders and media players for hotels, hospitals, campuses, stadiums and government facilities.

What is a Uniguest IPTV system?

IPTV delivers live TV, internal channels and video on demand over the building's IP network instead of coax. Uniguest headends take in broadcast, satellite and in-house sources, encode them, and stream them to media players or smart TVs at every screen.

What is the difference between MediaStar and Hub AV?

MediaStar is Uniguest's modular IPTV platform built on chassis and blades. Hub AV (formerly Tripleplay) is a server-based platform with interactive TV and video on demand. The right one depends on the size of the site and how interactive the guest or patient experience needs to be.

What do the encoders, transcoders and gateways do?

Encoders turn HDMI, SDI or component sources into IP streams. Transcoders convert existing streams into the formats and bitrates the network needs. Gateways bring in streams from outside, such as the 799 re-caster with SRT for secure delivery over the internet.

Do I need a chassis?

MediaStar blades install into a chassis, either the single-slot 769 or the multi-slot 3RU 770, which provides power and backplane connections. Standalone units such as the 785 encoder and 1U ENCOD3R models do not need one.

Which media player should I choose?

MediaStar and Hub AV players such as the 800, SP2-EAC3 and P3 deliver IPTV to each screen. Onelan NTB players run signage zones, from single-zone retail players to unlimited-zone 4K units, and Hub players handle signage on the Uniguest Hub platform.

Can one system do both TV and signage?

Yes. Many players handle IPTV and signage together, so a hospital or hotel screen can show live channels alongside messaging and wayfinding.

Does Creation Networks design and install Uniguest systems?

Yes. We size the headend to the channel lineup and screen count, design the network for multicast video, install and commission the system, and support it after handover. Call (888) 230-3661 or email sales@creationnetworks.net.
