Rack shelf or a manufacturer rack kit?
Use the manufacturer’s rack-mount kit where one exists, since it secures the device and keeps ventilation clear. Use shelves for devices without kits, such as small PCs, power bricks and desktop units.
What are vented and sliding shelves?
Vented shelves let heat escape. Sliding shelves pull out so equipment behind can be reached without unmounting it.
Why do rack rails and spacing matter?
Adjustable rails set equipment depth, and correct screws and cage nuts keep devices secure. Using the right hardware avoids stripped threads and sagging equipment.
What about rear support?
Deep or heavy equipment should be supported at the back with rear rails or support brackets, not just front ears.
How should a rack be organised?
Heavy items low, heat-producing equipment spaced with vent panels, power at the bottom or rear, and cables managed with lacing bars.
Can you label racks?
Yes. We label equipment and cables so service is faster.
