Product Overview
The ZeeVee Z4KENCF3 ZyPer4K HDMI 2.0 Fiber Encoder is a full-size SDVoE AV-over-IP encoder designed for deployments where electrical isolation, longer cable runs, or EMI immunity are required on 10GbE fiber infrastructure. It delivers uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video at zero-frame latency over multimode fiber up to 300 meters per segment, making it well suited for inter-building distribution, large venue installations, and broadcast environments where copper distance limits are a constraint. As a ZyPer4K fiber encoder deployment solution, it integrates into the same ZeeVee SDVoE ecosystem as the copper variants, managed centrally by the ZyPer Management Platform. This 10Gbps uncompressed video distribution encoder connects via SFP+ fiber transceiver, providing the same feature set as the copper encoder in a fiber-native form factor.
Product Description
The Z4KENCF3 replaces the copper RJ45 primary link with a 10Gb SFP+ fiber interface supporting multimode fiber at 850nm wavelength up to 300 meters, while retaining the 1Gb utility RJ45 for management and downstream connectivity. The encoder accepts HDMI 2.0 sources with HDCP 2.2 pass-through and transports uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video across a standard 10GbE fiber-capable switched network without compression or frame delay. This is the correct encoder for facilities that require electrical isolation between buildings, have existing multimode fiber plant in place, or need to exceed the 100-meter limitation of Cat6a copper. Audio support includes LPCM up to 8 channels via HDMI and an unbalanced 3.5mm stereo analog I/O. RS-232 and IR pass-through extend control signals end-to-end across the IP network for integration with room control systems. Security features include HDCP 2.2, AES-128 encryption, and 802.1X network authentication. The ZyPer Management Platform (ZMP) manages all routing, video wall configurations up to 15x15, and multiview layouts with up to 19 simultaneous sources across the full SDVoE network. Power draw is approximately 9W via the locking Neutrik NAC3MPX connector.
Key Features
- 10Gb SFP+ Fiber Interface — Multimode fiber at 850nm supports runs up to 300 meters, overcoming copper distance limitations for inter-building and large-venue deployments.
- Electrical Isolation — Fiber connectivity eliminates ground loop issues between buildings or electrically noisy environments.
- Uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 — Full SDVoE transport with no compression or buffering for broadcast and visualization-grade signal quality.
- Zero-Frame Latency — Real-time video delivery for control room, live production, and interactive applications.
- 8-Channel LPCM Audio — Full multi-channel audio transported over the same fiber connection as video.
- RS-232 and IR Extension — Control signal pass-through over IP for room automation and matrix control integration.
- Video Wall and Multiview — Up to 15x15 video wall and 19-source multiview via ZMP software management.
- AES-128 and 802.1X Security — Enterprise-grade encryption and authentication for secure AV-over-IP distribution.
Typical Applications
- Inter-building AV distribution over existing multimode fiber plant
- Large venue and arena installations with long cable runs
- Broadcast and live production facilities requiring EMI immunity
- Campus-wide AV distribution where electrical isolation is required
- Healthcare facilities with strict electrical isolation requirements between wings or buildings
- Outdoor or semi-outdoor installations where copper grounding presents challenges

Frequently Asked Questions
- What type of fiber does the Z4KENCF3 use?
- The Z4KENCF3 uses multimode fiber at 850nm wavelength via an SFP+ transceiver, supporting runs up to 300 meters. Single-mode fiber is not supported on this model.
- Is the SFP+ transceiver included with the Z4KENCF3?
- The SFP+ transceiver is typically sold separately. Confirm transceiver requirements with your ZeeVee distributor to ensure compatibility with your specific fiber plant and switch infrastructure.
- When should I choose fiber over copper for a ZyPer4K deployment?
- Choose fiber when cable runs exceed 100 meters, when electrical isolation is required between source and display locations (e.g., inter-building), or when EMI immunity is a concern in industrial or broadcast environments.
- Does the Z4KENCF3 support KVM?
- No. The standard fiber encoder does not include a USB port. For KVM-over-IP on fiber, use the Z4KENCF3U which adds USB 2.0 capability.
- Can fiber and copper ZyPer4K encoders and decoders coexist on the same network?
- Yes. Fiber and copper variants are fully interoperable within the same SDVoE network and managed by a single ZMP instance. Routing between fiber and copper endpoints is transparent to the system.
- Does the fiber interface affect latency or video quality compared to copper?
- No. The SDVoE protocol operates identically over fiber or copper — both deliver zero-frame latency with uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video. The physical medium does not affect signal quality or timing.
