Product Overview

The ZeeVee Z4KENCC3U ZyPer4K HDMI 2.0 CatX Encoder with USB is a full-size SDVoE AV-over-IP encoder that adds USB 2.0 extension to the standard copper encoder platform, enabling KVM-over-IP deployments on 10GbE infrastructure. It delivers uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video at zero-frame latency alongside full USB HID and peripheral pass-through, making it the preferred choice when operators need both high-resolution video and keyboard, mouse, or peripheral control at remote workstations. As a ZyPer4K uncompressed 4K AV-over-IP encoder with KVM capability, it is widely deployed in control rooms, secure operations centers, and AV-over-IP for commercial AV environments where centralized computing with distributed operator access is required. Connectivity is via Cat6a copper up to 100 meters per segment on a standard 10GbE switched network.

Product Description

The Z4KENCC3U extends the Z4KENCC3 platform by incorporating a USB 2.0 Type B port, enabling full KVM-over-IP functionality when paired with a compatible ZyPer4K decoder that also includes USB. This makes it possible to centralize compute hardware in a secure server room while giving operators at remote decoder endpoints full keyboard, mouse, and peripheral access as if they were sitting directly at the source machine. The encoder accepts HDMI 2.0 sources with HDCP 2.2 pass-through and transports uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video across the SDVoE network with no frame buffering or compression artifacts. Audio support includes LPCM up to 8 channels over HDMI plus an unbalanced 3.5mm analog stereo I/O for local monitoring or intercom injection. RS-232 and IR extension ports allow control signals to be transported end-to-end across the IP network, maintaining full integration with room automation and control systems. The unit connects to the primary 10GbE fabric via RJ45 or SFP+, with a secondary 1Gb utility RJ45 for management or downstream device connectivity. The ZyPer Management Platform (ZMP) provides centralized routing, video wall management up to 15x15, and multiview layouts with up to 19 simultaneous sources. Security is enforced via HDCP 2.2, AES-128 encryption, and 802.1X network authentication.

Key Features

  • USB 2.0 KVM Extension — Type B USB port enables keyboard, mouse, and peripheral pass-through for full KVM-over-IP operation at remote workstations.
  • Uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 — SDVoE transport delivers full-fidelity video with no compression, suitable for visualization, broadcast, and simulation environments.
  • Zero-Frame Latency — Eliminates buffering delay for real-time interactivity required in control room and KVM applications.
  • 10GbE Copper Connectivity — RJ45 or SFP+ connection over Cat6a up to 100 meters on standard enterprise switching infrastructure.
  • 8-Channel LPCM Audio — Full multi-channel audio transport over the same network connection as video.
  • RS-232 and IR Pass-Through — Extends control signals across the IP network for integration with AMX, Crestron, Extron, and other control systems.
  • Video Wall and Multiview — Supports up to 15x15 video walls and 19-source multiview layouts via ZMP.
  • AES-128 and 802.1X Security — Enterprise encryption and network authentication for secure AV distribution.

Typical Applications

  • KVM-over-IP deployments in secure operations and command centers
  • Centralized computing with distributed operator workstations
  • Broadcast and production control rooms requiring both video and peripheral access
  • Enterprise AV distribution with operator interactivity at remote endpoints
  • Government and defense facilities requiring secure, centralized compute access
  • University AV labs with shared computing resources accessed from multiple stations

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the USB port on the Z4KENCC3U support?
The USB 2.0 Type B port supports KVM-over-IP when paired with a ZyPer4K decoder that also includes USB. Compatible peripherals include keyboards, mice, and USB HID devices. High-bandwidth USB devices such as webcams or storage drives are not supported over this interface.
Does the Z4KENCC3U require a proprietary switch?
No. It operates on any standards-based 10GbE switch that supports multicast and jumbo frames. No ZeeVee-specific switching hardware is required.
What is the difference between the Z4KENCC3 and Z4KENCC3U?
The Z4KENCC3U adds a single USB 2.0 Type B port for KVM functionality. All other specifications — video, audio, network, dimensions, and power — are identical to the Z4KENCC3.
Can I mix USB and non-USB encoders and decoders on the same ZyPer4K network?
Yes. ZMP supports mixed deployments. USB pass-through is only active on encoder-decoder pairs where both units have USB ports. Non-USB units continue to operate normally for video, audio, and control.
What is the maximum copper cable run?
Cat6a up to 100 meters per segment on the primary 10Gb RJ45 port. For runs exceeding 100 meters, use the fiber variant Z4KENCF3U.
How is routing managed across multiple encoders and decoders?
The ZyPer Management Platform (ZMP) provides a centralized GUI for routing any encoder to any decoder, configuring video walls, and managing multiview layouts across the entire SDVoE network.
