Product Overview
The ZeeVee Z4KDECF3U ZyPer4K HDMI 2.0 Fiber Decoder with USB is the most capable display endpoint in the ZyPer4K SDVoE product line, combining multimode fiber connectivity with USB 2.0 KVM capability at the decoder end. It receives uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video at zero-frame latency over fiber runs up to 300 meters and provides a USB Type A port for keyboards, mice, and USB HID peripherals, completing a KVM-over-IP link across long-distance or electrically isolated fiber infrastructure. For ZyPer4K fiber encoder deployment scenarios in secure operations centers, inter-building command facilities, or broadcast production environments where both extended reach and operator interactivity are required, the Z4KDECF3U is the single-unit solution at the display end. It integrates into any SDVoE network alongside copper and fiber variants, managed centrally by the ZyPer Management Platform.
Product Description
The Z4KDECF3U connects to the 10GbE network via SFP+ fiber transceiver supporting multimode at 850nm up to 300 meters, with a secondary 1Gb utility RJ45 for management or downstream connectivity. It decodes incoming SDVoE streams to HDMI 2.0 output at up to 4K60 4:4:4 with 48-bit color depth and zero-frame latency, providing full HDCP 2.2 compliance for encrypted content at the display. The USB 2.0 Type A port allows operators to connect a keyboard, mouse, or USB HID peripheral directly at the decoder location; when paired with a USB-equipped encoder (Z4KENCC3U or Z4KENCF3U), these devices are transparently extended to the source machine over the SDVoE network. Audio output includes LPCM up to 8 channels over HDMI and an unbalanced 3.5mm stereo analog output for local speaker systems. RS-232 and IR ports receive control signals transported from the encoder location for local display or device management. The ZyPer Management Platform (ZMP) manages all routing, video wall configurations up to 15x15, and multiview layouts with up to 19 simultaneous sources. USB routing follows video routing — when ZMP switches a decoder to a different source, both video and USB connections update simultaneously. Security features include AES-128 encryption and 802.1X network authentication in addition to HDCP 2.2.
Key Features
- Fiber plus USB KVM at the Decoder — Combines 300-meter multimode fiber reach with USB 2.0 Type A KVM capability in a single decoder unit.
- Uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 Output — Full-fidelity HDMI 2.0 output with no compression for broadcast, visualization, and high-end display applications.
- Zero-Frame Latency — Real-time video and peripheral response for control room and interactive operator applications.
- 10Gb SFP+ Fiber Interface — Multimode, 850nm, up to 300m, with electrical isolation benefits for inter-building and sensitive environments.
- USB 2.0 Type A Port — Connects keyboards, mice, and USB HID peripherals at the operator position for full KVM-over-IP functionality.
- 8-Channel LPCM Audio Output — Multi-channel audio delivered via HDMI, transported over the same fiber link as video.
- RS-232 and IR Reception — Receives control signals from the network for local display and device management.
- AES-128 and 802.1X Security — Enterprise encryption and network authentication for secure KVM and AV distribution.
Typical Applications
- Long-distance KVM-over-IP operator positions in inter-building control facilities
- Secure operations centers with centralized compute accessed from remote fiber-connected endpoints
- Broadcast production facilities with remote operator positions beyond copper distance limits
- Campus AV and KVM distribution over existing multimode fiber infrastructure

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the advantage of the Z4KDECF3U over the Z4KDECC3U copper decoder with USB?
- The Z4KDECF3U adds fiber connectivity, extending the maximum distance from the network switch to 300 meters versus 100 meters for copper. It also provides electrical isolation between buildings and EMI immunity. Feature parity is otherwise identical for video, audio, USB, and control.
- Does USB KVM work the same over fiber as over copper?
- Yes. The SDVoE protocol handles USB transport identically regardless of the physical medium. Latency and peripheral compatibility are the same over fiber or copper.
- What encoder must the Z4KDECF3U be paired with for KVM?
- USB KVM requires the paired encoder to also have a USB port. Compatible encoder options are the Z4KENCC3U (copper with USB) or Z4KENCF3U (fiber with USB). The fiber or copper designation of the encoder is independent of the decoder's connection type.
- Is the SFP+ transceiver included?
- SFP+ transceivers are typically sold separately. Confirm the correct transceiver with your ZeeVee distributor based on your fiber plant specification and switch compatibility.
- Can this decoder serve as both a video wall tile and a KVM endpoint simultaneously?
- No. When configured as a video wall tile, the decoder is dedicated to rendering its assigned tile and does not simultaneously support KVM operation. KVM mode and video wall mode are mutually exclusive configurations in ZMP.
- What fiber standard is required for the full 300-meter run?
- Multimode fiber at 850nm wavelength, OM3 or OM4 is recommended for the full 300-meter distance. OM1 or OM2 may support shorter distances; confirm with your fiber plant documentation. Single-mode fiber is not supported.
