Product Overview

The ZeeVee Z4KDECF3 ZyPer4K HDMI 2.0 Fiber Decoder is the fiber-connected display endpoint for ZyPer4K SDVoE AV-over-IP systems, receiving uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video streams over multimode fiber up to 300 meters and outputting them via HDMI 2.0 to local displays. It is the correct decoder for deployments where copper distance limits have been exceeded, electrical isolation between source and display is required, or existing fiber plant is being leveraged for AV-over-IP distribution. As a ZyPer4K fiber encoder deployment counterpart, it integrates with all ZyPer4K encoders on the same SDVoE network, managed centrally by the ZyPer Management Platform. For 10Gbps uncompressed video distribution across inter-building or large-venue fiber infrastructure, the Z4KDECF3 provides display-side connectivity without compromise in signal quality or latency.

Product Description

The Z4KDECF3 connects to the 10GbE fiber network via SFP+ transceiver supporting multimode fiber at 850nm wavelength up to 300 meters, with a 1Gb utility RJ45 for management or downstream device connectivity. It receives SDVoE-encoded streams from any ZyPer4K encoder on the network and decodes them to HDMI 2.0 output at up to 4K60 with 4:4:4 chroma sampling, 48-bit color depth, and zero-frame latency — indistinguishable in quality from a direct HDMI connection to the source. HDCP 2.2 compliance ensures encrypted content is properly decrypted and presented to compliant displays. Audio output includes LPCM up to 8 channels via HDMI and an unbalanced 3.5mm stereo analog output for local audio distribution. RS-232 and IR ports receive control signals transported across the IP network from the encoder location, enabling local display or device control without additional control wiring. The ZyPer Management Platform (ZMP) manages all routing between encoders and decoders, video wall configurations up to 15x15, and multiview layouts with up to 19 simultaneous sources. This standard model does not include USB; for fiber deployments requiring KVM, use the Z4KDECF3U.

Key Features

  • 10Gb SFP+ Fiber Interface — Multimode, 850nm, up to 300 meters per segment for inter-building and long-run display endpoints.
  • Electrical Isolation — Fiber connectivity eliminates ground loops between buildings or across electrically sensitive environments.
  • Uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 Output — Full-fidelity HDMI 2.0 output with no compression for broadcast, visualization, and high-end display applications.
  • Zero-Frame Latency — SDVoE protocol delivers real-time video response at the display endpoint.
  • 8-Channel LPCM Audio — Multi-channel audio output over HDMI, transported over the same fiber link as video.
  • RS-232 and IR Reception — Receives control signals from the network for local display management without dedicated control cabling.
  • Video Wall and Multiview Support — Supports up to 15x15 video walls and 19-source multiview via ZMP.
  • AES-128 and 802.1X Security — Encrypted transport and authentication for secure AV distribution.

Typical Applications

  • Display endpoints in inter-building AV distribution over existing multimode fiber
  • Large venue and arena display feeds at distances exceeding copper limits
  • Campus digital signage over fiber backbone infrastructure
  • Broadcast and production monitor feeds in EMI-sensitive environments
  • Healthcare display endpoints requiring electrical isolation between building wings
  • Outdoor or semi-outdoor display installations where electrical isolation is critical

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use the Z4KDECF3 instead of the Z4KDECC3 copper decoder?
Use the Z4KDECF3 when the display is located more than 100 meters from the nearest network switch, when you need electrical isolation between the source and display buildings, or when your infrastructure uses multimode fiber rather than copper Cat6a.
Is the SFP+ transceiver included with the Z4KDECF3?
SFP+ transceivers are typically sold separately. Confirm transceiver type with your ZeeVee distributor based on your specific fiber plant and switch compatibility requirements.
Can the Z4KDECF3 receive streams from copper ZyPer4K encoders?
Yes. The physical medium (fiber vs. copper) at each endpoint is independent. A fiber decoder can receive streams from any ZyPer4K encoder, copper or fiber, on the same SDVoE network. ZMP manages routing transparently.
Does the Z4KDECF3 support KVM?
No. This standard model does not include USB. For fiber decoder endpoints that require KVM, use the Z4KDECF3U which adds USB 2.0.
What fiber specification is required?
Multimode fiber, 850nm wavelength, OM3 or OM4 recommended for the full 300-meter run. Single-mode fiber is not supported on this model.
Can the Z4KDECF3 be used as a video wall tile?
Yes. Any ZyPer4K decoder, including fiber models, can be configured as a tile in a video wall up to 15x15 via ZMP. Each decoder drives one display tile.
