Product Overview

The Williams AV IR SY7 is a commercial-grade, medium-area infrared assistive listening system that adds Power over Ethernet capability to the proven IR T2 transmitter platform. Designed for AV integrators wiring conference rooms, courtrooms, and training rooms, the included POE KT1 remote power kit lets the ceiling- or wall-mounted transmitter draw power over a single category cable run — no local AC outlet required at the mounting position. The kit ships with two WIR RX22-4N four-channel bodypack receivers, headphones, a neckloop, a two-bay charger, and rechargeable batteries for a complete two-listener deployment.

Product Description

Powering an infrared transmitter at a ceiling mount point has traditionally required a dedicated electrical drop. The IR SY7 solves this with the POE KT1 remote power kit, which includes the WCA 131 and WCA 133 cables for wiring the IR T2 directly to a power supply over structured cabling. This simplifies installation in finished spaces and keeps the equipment footprint clean in plenum and ceiling installations.

The IR T2 transmitter is also control system ready: it can be managed remotely via RS-232 commands, including power on/off, remote IR frequency selection (2.3/2.8 or 3.3/3.8 MHz), audio muting without power-down, back-panel LED control, and troubleshooting queries. This makes the IR SY7 a strong fit for managed AV environments where the assistive listening system needs to follow room scheduling and automation logic. A full command list is published in the IR T2 Programmer's Guide.

On the receive side, each WIR RX22-4N bodypack offers four selectable channels, dual infrared detectors, and on/off/volume controls. Two HED 027 heavy-duty folding headphones cover standard listeners, while the NKL 001 induction neckloop couples audio to T-coil hearing aids. The CHG 3502 two-bay charger and BAT 026-2 NiMH rechargeable batteries keep both receivers topped off between sessions, and the included BKT 024 bracket and IDP 008 ADA wall plaque complete the installation.

For a version without PoE, see the Williams AV IR SY6 portable kit, or browse the full Williams AV collection.

Key Features

  • PoE Remote Power Kit — The included POE KT1 kit with WCA 131 and WCA 133 cables powers the transmitter over a single category cable run, eliminating the need for an AC outlet at the mount point.
  • RS-232 Control Integration — The IR T2 accepts serial commands for power, frequency selection, muting, LED control, and diagnostics from a room control system.
  • Complete Two-Listener Kit — Includes two WIR RX22-4N receivers, two HED 027 headphones, an NKL 001 neckloop, charger, and rechargeable batteries.
  • T-Coil Hearing Aid Support — The induction neckloop couples audio directly to telecoil-equipped hearing aids and cochlear implants.
  • Rechargeable Workflow — The CHG 3502 two-bay charger recharges the NiMH batteries inside the docked receivers without battery removal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the PoE kit actually do?

The POE KT1 remote power kit lets the IR T2 transmitter receive power over a category cable run instead of requiring a local AC outlet. The included WCA 133 cable wires directly to a power supply; the alternative WCA 132 cable for wiring to a PoE switch is sold separately.

Can the IR SY7 be controlled by Crestron, Extron, or other control systems?

Yes. The IR T2 transmitter accepts RS-232 commands for power on/off, frequency selection, audio muting, LED control, and troubleshooting, allowing full integration with third-party room control processors. The complete command set is documented in the IR T2 Programmer's Guide.

What is included in the system?

The kit includes one IR T2 transmitter, two WIR RX22-4N receivers, two HED 027 headphones, one NKL 001 neckloop, a CHG 3502 two-bay charger, two BAT 026-2 NiMH battery packs, the POE KT1 remote power kit, a BKT 024 mounting bracket, an IDP 008 ADA wall plaque, and a TFP 057 power supply.

Does the system support hearing aid users?

Yes. The included NKL 001 induction neckloop couples receiver audio magnetically to any T-coil (telecoil) equipped hearing aid or cochlear implant.

How are the receivers recharged?

Dock the WIR RX22-4N receivers in the CHG 3502 two-bay charger with the NiMH batteries installed — no battery removal is required. Receivers run approximately 30 hours per NiMH charge or 60 hours on alkaline AAs.

What warranty applies?

Williams AV backs the system with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
