Product Overview

The Williams AV IR SY11 is the IR+ Complete system, a large-area infrared assistive listening package that bundles everything a venue needs for ADA-compliant hearing assistance: the IR M1 modulator, two linked IR E4 emitters, four four-channel bodypack receivers, headphones, neckloops, rechargeable batteries with chargers, mounting hardware, and compliance signage. It is the analog-input configuration of the IR+ Complete family, suited to houses of worship, lecture halls, and auditoriums fed from a conventional mixer or DSP line output.

Product Description

The IR M1 infrared modulator anchors the system in a single rack unit. Two combination XLR/quarter-inch TRS inputs accept balanced or unbalanced line-level or microphone signals with selectable phantom power, and the unit modulates two independent audio channels with carriers selectable between the 2.3/2.8 and 3.3/3.8 MHz pairs. That two-channel architecture supports dual-language services or simultaneous program and interpretation feeds from one head end. Facilities planning a move to networked audio can specify the IR SY11 D, which swaps in the Dante-equipped IR M1 D modulator.

Onboard DSP applies selectable compression of 1:1, 1.5:1, or 2:1 plus high-pass and low-pass filtering, conditioning the signal for speech intelligibility. Configuration, monitoring, and the adjustable auto carrier shut-off all live in the modulator's embedded web page, and commissioning is straightforward with the 400 Hz internal test tone, dual IR test LED, and front-panel headphone jacks for both channels.

The two IR E4 emitters mount as a linked pair on the included MLB 003 metal linking bar with BKT 024 wall brackets. Each emitter receives +48 VDC power, RS-485 control, and the baseband infrared signal over a single Cat5e run from the modulator's RJ-45 ports, so installation amounts to two structured cabling pulls and a wall mount. Rated up to 18,000 square feet per emitter in single-channel mode, the pair covers large sanctuaries and assembly halls, with two spare modulator ports available for added emitters. Infrared cannot pass through walls, so adjacent rooms can run identical systems without interference and program audio remains inside the space.

Four WIR RX22-4 four-channel bodypack receivers with lanyards serve listeners, paired with four HED 021 performance headphones and two NKL 001 neckloops for telecoil hearing aid users. Four pairs of rechargeable AA batteries and two CHG 3502 drop-in chargers keep the fleet powered, and the IDP 008 plaque documents assistive listening availability. For additional receivers, neckloops, and signage, browse the Williams AV collection at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • All-Inclusive ADA Package — Modulator, emitters, receivers, headphones, neckloops, batteries, chargers, mounts, and signage ship together so the venue is compliant on day one.
  • Large-Area Infrared Coverage — Two linked IR E4 emitters each cover up to 18,000 square feet in single-channel mode, scaled for sanctuaries and lecture halls.
  • Two-Channel Modulator — The IR M1 carries two independent programs on selectable carriers for dual-language or interpretation workflows.
  • Flexible Analog Inputs — Combination XLR/TRS jacks accept line or microphone sources, balanced or unbalanced, with selectable phantom power.
  • Four-Channel Receivers — WIR RX22-4 bodypacks select among 2.3, 2.8, 3.3, and 3.8 MHz and run up to 60 hours on alkaline AA batteries.
  • Hearing Aid Coupling Included — Two NKL 001 neckloops serve telecoil users toward ADA hearing-aid-compatible receiver counts.
  • Cat5e Emitter Wiring — Each emitter needs only one cable from the modulator for power, control, and signal.
  • Web-Based Setup — The embedded configuration page handles carriers, DSP settings, and diagnostics from any browser on the network.
  • Room-Contained Audio — Infrared transmission stops at the walls, eliminating cross-room interference in multi-room facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What audio sources can feed the IR SY11?

Any balanced or unbalanced line-level output from a mixer, DSP, or amplifier feeds the modulator's combination XLR/TRS inputs, and microphone-level sources work directly with selectable phantom power for condenser microphones.

Should I buy the SY11 or the SY11 D?

Choose the SY11 D if your facility distributes audio over a Dante network; its IR M1 D modulator subscribes to two Dante channels. The SY11 is the right choice for analog-fed rooms and carries a lower price for the same coverage and receiver package.

How large a room will the two emitters cover?

Each IR E4 is rated for up to 18,000 square feet in single-channel mode. Running both audio channels reduces per-emitter coverage, and mounting position and seating geometry affect results; the modulator supports up to four emitters if more coverage is needed.

How do hearing aid users participate?

The two included NKL 001 neckloops plug into the receiver's 3.5 mm jack and couple audio inductively to telecoil hearing aids and cochlear implants, which counts toward ADA hearing-aid-compatible receiver requirements.

Does the system need special cabling or power at the emitters?

No. A single Cat5e run from the modulator to each emitter carries power, RS-485 control, and the IR signal, so no electrical outlet is required at the emitter wall.

What warranty applies?

Williams AV covers the modulator and emitters for 2 years and the WIR RX22-4 receivers for 5 years, with 90-day coverage on accessories.
