The Williams Sound EAR 042 is a pair of dual in-ear isolation earphones designed for use with Williams Sound FM receivers, Digi-Wave transceivers, and PockeTalker personal amplifiers. The in-ear design provides passive noise isolation to improve speech intelligibility in ambient noise environments, making these earphones well-suited for use in theaters, conference rooms, worship spaces, and other assistive listening settings. With a 32-ohm impedance and 39-inch stereo cord, the EAR 042 is compatible with a broad range of Williams Sound personal listening receivers. Note: not compatible with PockeTalker ULTRA.

Product Description

The EAR 042 dual in-ear isolation earphones sit in the outer portion of the ear canal, creating a physical seal that attenuates ambient background noise without active noise cancellation electronics. This passive isolation approach improves the effective signal-to-noise ratio for the listener, which is particularly relevant in noisy public venues where assistive listening systems are commonly deployed. The earphones use 10 mm drivers with a nominal impedance of 32 ohms and a sensitivity of 104 dB at 1 kHz, providing sufficient output level from standard Williams Sound FM and IR receiver output stages. The frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz covers the full audible range, with speech frequencies (300 Hz to 3 kHz) well within the flat response zone. Maximum power input is rated at 5 mW, appropriate for low-power portable receiver outputs. The 39-inch stereo cord with 3.5 mm stereo plug is a standard length for clip-worn FM receivers. Replacement silicone tips are available separately as EAR 043 (one pair). These earphones are not compatible with the PockeTalker ULTRA due to its specific output impedance requirements.
