Product Overview
The Williams AV DWS INT 3 400 ALK is a portable language interpretation system for two presenters or interpreters and twenty listeners, built on the Digi-Wave 400 digital wireless platform. With alkaline-powered DLR 400 ALK receivers, rechargeable DLT 400 transceivers, and no base station to install, it gives courts, churches, and training facilities a self-contained simultaneous interpretation package that deploys in minutes and travels in a single carry case.
Product Description
This mid-size Digi-Wave 400 interpretation system pairs two DLT 400 digital transceivers — each with a MIC 144 headset microphone — with twenty lightweight DLR 400 ALK receivers and EAR 022 surround earphones. Interpreters transmit on dedicated channels while listeners dial in their language on the receiver's LCD; the platform supports one floor language and up to 14 translated languages, so additional transceivers can be added as language requirements expand beyond the two channels supplied.

The DLR 400 ALK receivers run up to 30 hours on two standard AAA alkaline batteries (twenty BAT 010-2 cells are included), which keeps the listener fleet operational without charging infrastructure — a practical benefit for facilities that share equipment across buildings or rent it out. The two transceivers recharge in the included CHG 404 four-slot charging bay, and the complete kit packs into the CCS 042 system carry case.

Transmission uses frequency-hopping digital spread-spectrum in the license-free 2.4 GHz ISM band, resisting interference from Wi-Fi and other wireless systems in commercial meeting spaces while offering optional 87+128-bit encryption for confidential proceedings. The same hardware also runs two-way intercom and one-way guided-tour modes. For larger audiences and more languages, see the DWS INT 5 400 ALK 50-receiver system or the full Williams AV collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this system the right size for a church or courtroom?
Yes — two interpreter channels and twenty receivers cover most single-room bilingual or trilingual scenarios. If your audience or language count grows, add receivers (unlimited) and transceivers (up to 14 language channels) without replacing the core system.
How quickly can a non-technical staff member set it up?
Within minutes. There is no base station, antenna, or wiring: power on the transceivers, hand out receivers set to the correct channel, and the system is live.
Do the receivers work with hearing aids?
The DLR 400 ALK's 3.5 mm output drives earphones, headphones, or a neckloop for telecoil-equipped hearing aids, supporting listeners who need assistive listening alongside interpretation.
Will the 2.4 GHz signal conflict with our wireless microphones or Wi-Fi?
The frequency-hopping spread-spectrum design moves across 2402–2476 MHz to avoid interference, so it coexists with Wi-Fi networks and UHF wireless microphone systems commonly found in commercial AV installations.
Can I mix this with older Digi-Wave 300 equipment we own?
DLR 400 ALK receivers are compatible with DLT 300 transmitters, and the DLT 400 supports 87-bit encryption for 300 Series interoperability with some feature limitations — useful during a phased fleet upgrade.
