Product Overview

The Williams AV DWS COM 4 400 is a four-user Digi-Wave 400 wireless intercom system for small production crews, training teams, and commercial facilities that need license-free, full-duplex communication. All four DLT 400 transceivers transmit simultaneously, so the team converses naturally without push-to-talk turn-taking. The kit includes headset microphones, charging accessories, identification skins, and a carry case, making it a complete entry point into the Digi-Wave 400 platform.

Product Description

The DWS COM 4 400 packages four DLT 400 transceivers with four MIC 144 headset microphones, four DW ACC PAC4 charging accessory packs, a CCS 029 DW carry case, and color-coded silicone skins (one grey, three black) for quick role identification. The DLT 400 is a digital spread-spectrum (DSS) transceiver in the 2.4 GHz ISM band whose frequency-hopping algorithm (2402–2476 MHz FHSS) avoids interference from venue Wi-Fi and other RF traffic, while 87-bit plus 128-bit encryption with PIN protection keeps conversations confidential in courtrooms, government spaces, and corporate facilities. Full-duplex operation makes the system a cost-effective alternative to licensed two-way radios, with no FCC licensing or frequency coordination required at any site. Each transceiver provides up to 16 hours of talk time per charge from its internal lithium polymer battery and operates at ranges up to 900 feet depending on conditions. Because the Digi-Wave platform is multi-mode, the same four units can be reconfigured for language interpretation (one floor language plus up to 14 interpreted languages), guided tours with or without audience talkback, or hearing assistance. The system scales easily: add more DLT 400 transceivers for talkers — up to six simultaneous — or DLR 400 RCH receivers for listen-only participants. Larger pre-configured kits and all Digi-Wave components are available in the Williams AV collection at Creation Networks.

How It Works

System includes: (4) DLT 400 transceivers, (4) MIC 144 headset microphones, (4) DW ACC PAC4 charging packs, (1) CCS 029 DW carry case, (1) CCS 061 GR grey silicone skin, (3) CCS 061 BK black silicone skins.

Key Features

  • Four-User Full-Duplex Intercom — All four positions transmit simultaneously, giving small crews continuous open-mic communication without push-to-talk delays.
  • License-Free 2.4 GHz DSS Operation — Frequency-hopping spread spectrum avoids interference and requires no FCC license or frequency coordination.
  • Encrypted, PIN-Protected Audio — 87-bit plus 128-bit encryption secures conversations in legal, government, and corporate environments.
  • Up to 16 Hours of Talk Time — Internal 1800 mAh lithium polymer batteries with smart charging cover a full event day per five-hour charge.
  • 900-Foot Operating Range — Coverage up to 274 m (environment dependent) handles large rooms, backstage zones, and multi-room facilities.
  • Multi-Mode Platform — The same hardware supports intercom, interpretation with up to 14 language channels, guided tours, and hearing assistance.
  • Scalable System — Add DLT 400 transceivers (up to six simultaneous talkers) or DLR 400 receivers for listeners as requirements grow.
  • Complete Portable Kit — Headset microphones, charging packs, identification skins, and a carry case are included for immediate deployment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can all four users talk at the same time?

Yes. Every transceiver in the DWS COM 4 400 operates in full duplex, so all four team members converse simultaneously with open microphones — no push-to-talk button presses required.

Does this wireless intercom require an FCC license?

No. The Digi-Wave 400 operates in the license-free 2.4 GHz ISM band with frequency-hopping spread spectrum, eliminating licensing fees and frequency coordination at every venue.

Can I expand the system beyond four users?

Yes. Additional DLT 400 transceivers join the same encrypted group for up to six simultaneous talkers, and DLR 400 RCH or ALK receivers add unlimited listen-only positions for training, tours, or interpretation.

How does the system connect to an installed AV system?

Each DLT 400 provides USB-C line-level audio input and output, and the DWD 401 Digi-Wave Connect breakout box converts that to balanced XLR for integration with mixing consoles, DSPs, and room audio systems.

Is it compatible with Digi-Wave 300 Series equipment?

Yes, with limitations. The DLT 400's 87-bit encryption mode interoperates with DLT 300 and DLR 360 units, supporting mixed fleets during a phased upgrade.

What warranty applies?

Williams AV provides a 2-year warranty against component failure and manufacturing defects, with 6 months of coverage on the internal batteries.
