Where the VX62R and VX64R use a textured polypropylene woofer, the VX66R steps up to a 6.5-inch (165mm) Kevlar and Nomex composite cone with a rubber surround and pivoting mount, paired with a 1.0-inch (25mm) ferrofluid-cooled ceramic dome tweeter. This combination is rated for a wider frequency response of 43Hz to 20kHz (±3dB), a sensitivity of 90dB (2.83V/1m), and power handling from 5 watts minimum up to 140 watts maximum, higher than the other round VX6 models. Like its siblings, it uses Sonance's Sinusoidal Textured Waveguide for controlled dispersion and the CDX Crossover Design to blend tweeter and woofer output smoothly. Installation uses the same 8.25-inch cut-out diameter and 4.92-inch mounting depth as the rest of the VX round platform, with support for both one-stage and two-stage Flex Frame installation.
