It is designed for connecting Vaddio USB 3.0 conference cameras to a room PC or unified communications (UCC) codec in conference room installations where the camera is wall- or ceiling-mounted and the PC is at the table or in a rack. This non-plenum cable is appropriate for in-conduit or surface-raceway cable runs where CMP rating is not required.
Product Description
The Vaddio 440-1005-008 USB 3.0 Active Cable extends a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed connection to 8 meters (26.2 ft) using active copper signal-boosting circuitry built into the cable assembly. Passive USB 3.0 copper cables are typically limited to 3 meters; beyond that, signal integrity degrades and devices may fail to enumerate or drop to USB 2.0 speeds. The active design in the 440-1005-008 overcomes this limitation without requiring a separate powered USB extender or hub. The cable terminates in standard USB Type-A and Type-B connectors, making it a direct drop-in connection between a host PC and a Vaddio USB 3.0 camera. It is bus-powered and draws operating current from the USB host port, eliminating additional power cabling. The non-plenum jacket is suitable for installation inside conduit or surface raceways in commercial conference room AV deployments where a plenum jacket is not mandated.
