Product Overview
The tvONE C2-2655 is a universal scan converter and format converter designed for AV integrators and broadcast engineers who need to convert virtually any input signal format to any output format with less than two frames of latency. It accepts HDMI, DVI-U, VGA, composite, and component analog inputs, and outputs SD/HD/3G-SDI, HDMI, DVI-U, and composite, making it well-suited for bridging presentation and broadcast-format signal chains. On top of scaling and frame-rate conversion, the C2-2655 also operates as a 3x3 matrix switcher, routing any of its inputs to any of its outputs simultaneously.
Product Description

The C2-2655 is built on tvONE's CORIO2 processing engine, delivering a 162 MHz sampling rate, 24-bit color depth (16.8 million colors), and 24-bit digital sampling in 4:4:4 or 4:2:2 format depending on the input source. It supports output resolutions up to 1920x1200 at 60 Hz for computer signals and up to 1080p/60 for video, with analog output up to 1024x768 for computer and 1080p/60 for HDTV. Pixel-level motion-adaptive de-interlacing with diagonal interpolation handles all interlaced NTSC and PAL sources, and 3:2 pulldown extracts 24 fps film content from NTSC and 1080i sources. The DVI-U connector accepts HDMI, DVI, VGA, component, and composite video via adapters, adding flexibility when dealing with non-standard source connections. The auto-switching function detects and selects active inputs automatically, which is valuable in meeting rooms and classrooms where users connect and disconnect sources without AV operator support. RS-232 and IP control are supported alongside the built-in OLED display and OSD menu, with Windows configuration software included. All settings are stored in non-volatile memory, and firmware is field-upgradeable via RS-232 or IP. An optional 19-inch single or dual rack-mount kit is available.
Key Features
- SDI Output from Any Input — Outputs SD/HD/3G-SDI from HDMI, DVI, VGA, composite, and component analog sources, enabling PC and presentation sources to feed SDI broadcast infrastructure directly.
- 3x3 Matrix Switching — Routes any of three inputs (HDMI, DVI-U, composite) to any of three outputs (SDI, HDMI, DVI-U) simultaneously, eliminating the need for a separate matrix switcher in small systems.
- CORIO2 Processing — 162 MHz sampling rate, 24-bit color, 4:4:4 sampling for RGB, and 4:2:2 for YC and CV sources delivers accurate color reproduction across all conversions.
- Up/Down/Cross Conversion to 1920x1200 — Handles PC-to-video and video-to-PC conversions at resolutions up to 1920x1200 (WUXGA) for computer and 1080p/60 for video output.
- DVI-U Combo Connector — Single DVI-U input accepts HDMI, DVI, VGA, component, and composite via adapters, reducing the number of separate inputs required for mixed-format rooms.
- Auto-Switching — Automatically detects and selects an active input, with manual override always available; requires current firmware.
- Pixel-Level Motion-Adaptive De-interlacing — Handles NTSC and PAL interlaced sources with diagonal interpolation; 3:2 pulldown for film mode from NTSC and 1080i.
- Audio Embedding on Digital Outputs — Stereo analog audio embedding on DVI-U, HDMI, and SDI outputs; 4x1 analog audio router follows active video input.
- Firmware Flash-Upgradeable — Firmware updates via RS-232 or IP keep the unit current with new format support and bug fixes.
- Variable Zoom to 10x and Shrink to 10% — Image zoom, shrink, freeze, and mirroring (horizontal and vertical) for flexible display presentation.
Typical Applications
- Boardrooms and conference rooms requiring PC-to-SDI conversion for broadcast distribution
- Live event production feeding presentation graphics to SDI broadcast or recording equipment
- Broadcast facilities converting non-SDI sources into the SDI signal chain
- Medical and industrial environments requiring unattended auto-switching of multiple sources
- Classrooms and training rooms with mixed HDMI, VGA, and composite sources routing to multiple display types

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the C2-2655 convert a laptop HDMI output to SDI for broadcast use?
Yes. The HDMI input accepts standard HDMI signals from laptops and computers, and the unit outputs SD/HD/3G-SDI, enabling PC and presentation content to feed SDI broadcast infrastructure, recording equipment, or SDI distribution routers directly.
Does the 3x3 matrix functionality allow simultaneous multi-output routing?
Yes. The C2-2655 functions as a 3x3 matrix switcher, routing any input to any output simultaneously. All three outputs (SDI, HDMI, DVI-U) can carry different or identical sources at the same time.
What is the maximum output resolution for SDI?
The SDI output supports SD-SDI (525i/625i), HD-SDI (720p, 1080i, 1080p at standard rates), and 3G-SDI per SMPTE standards. Exact maximum SDI output resolution depends on input source and configured output format.
Is the DVI-U input the same as a standard DVI connector?
DVI-U is a combo connector that passes HDMI, DVI, VGA, component, or composite video as well as embedded audio where applicable. It uses the same physical DVI-I connector shape but requires adapters to connect non-DVI devices.
Can firmware be updated in the field?
Yes. Firmware is flash-upgradeable via RS-232 or IP connection, allowing updates to be applied without returning the unit to tvONE. Current firmware enables the auto-switching feature.
What warranty applies to the C2-2655?
