The TOA IR-820SP Y is a ceiling-mounted powered speaker with integrated infrared (IR) receiver, engineered for the TOA IR-802 Infrared Wireless Classroom PA System. It delivers wide-dispersion, high-quality audio in classroom environments of approximately 10 m, combining a 20W Class-D digital amplifier with a bass-reflex full-range speaker and a built-in 360° IR sensor array for seamless wireless microphone integration.

Powered and connected via a single CAT5 UTP cable to the IR-802T Infrared Wireless Tuner, the IR-820SP Y receives both the audio signal and DC power from the tuner, eliminating additional power wiring. Its unique wide-dispersion acoustic structure guarantees uniform sound coverage across the listening area, while the 360° IR sensor array receives signals from infrared wireless microphones without line-of-sight restrictions. Certified to UL60065 and UL2043 for plenum-rated installations.

Ideal for K–12 classrooms, small lecture halls, and training rooms where teachers use infrared wireless microphones for hands-free instruction without radio frequency interference or eavesdropping from adjacent rooms.

FAQ

  • What wireless microphone system is the IR-820SP Y compatible with? It is designed for TOA's IR-802 Infrared Wireless Classroom System, paired with an infrared wireless microphone and the IR-802T Infrared Wireless Tuner.
  • Does it require a separate power supply? No — it receives 24 V DC from the IR-802T tuner via a standard CAT5 UTP cable, eliminating separate power wiring.
  • Can it be used in adjacent classrooms simultaneously? Yes — two independent IR channels (3.100 MHz and 3.350 MHz) allow simultaneous use in neighboring rooms without interference or eavesdropping.
  • Is it approved for above-ceiling (plenum) installations? Yes — it is certified to UL60065 and UL2043, qualifying for plenum-rated ceiling installations.
  • What ceiling types is it compatible with? It mounts in standard drop-ceiling grids using the included hardware; the optional HY-TB1 Tile Bar Bridge extends compatibility to tile bar ceiling installations.
