Overview

The TOA M-804EX-AM is a 4-port RD port expander for the M-8080D Digital Matrix Mixer, enabling star-topology distribution of RD port connections. It accepts one RD port input from the M-8080D and expands it to four outputs — one carrying audio and control, and three carrying control only — making it easy to distribute remote control panels and I/O modules throughout a building.

Description

The M-8080D's RD port architecture natively supports a limited number of direct port connections. The M-804EX-AM extends the system by acting as a hub: one RD input port from the M-8080D fans out to four downstream RD output ports in a star configuration. The single audio+control output can drive a remote panel that requires audio (such as an M-822IO audio I/O module), while the three control-only outputs feed remote control panels (such as the M-802RC). This architecture enables large or multi-floor installations without running individual cables from each remote device all the way back to the central M-8080D. Power is supplied at 24 VDC, and all connections require shielded Category 5e cables or higher.

The audio+control RD port OUT carries both digital audio (for M-822IO I/O modules) and control data. The three control-only ports carry only control signals, suitable for M-802RC remote control panels which do not require an audio return path.

Yes. A network router is required for M-8080D system setup, as with all M-8080D accessories.

What cable type is required?
All RD port connections require shielded Category 5e cable (or higher) with shielded connectors. Standard unshielded patch cables are not recommended.
