The TOA DM-518-AM is a cardioid dynamic gooseneck paging microphone designed for fixed-installation commercial public address and paging desk applications. A flexible chrome gooseneck positions the microphone head precisely at the talker's mouth, improving pickup level and rejection of ambient noise without requiring precise presenter positioning. The push-to-talk (PTT) switch is normally-open type, allowing integration with TOA amplifiers and mixers that use contact-closure priority inputs for paging activation.

The balanced 150 Ω output and −63 dB (±3 dB) sensitivity at 1 kHz provide a compatible signal level for standard paging amplifier inputs. A remote control output contact on the 4-conductor cable allows the PTT action to trigger amplifier priority switching, zone selection, or other relay-operated functions. The die-cast zinc body and chrome-finish gooseneck are designed for long-term front-desk and podium installations.

The DM-518-AM's cardioid polar pattern attenuates sound arriving from the sides and rear, reducing pickup of ambient noise, HVAC rumble, and reverberant field energy at the paging position. Frequency response spans 50 Hz–12 kHz, covering the speech intelligibility band with adequate low-frequency warmth. The 4-conductor cable carries the balanced audio signal on two conductors and the PTT remote control contact on the remaining two, simplifying single-cable routing from the microphone to the amplifier's paging input. The die-cast zinc body in Metallic Gray finish presents a professional front-desk appearance in hotels, schools, hospitals, and corporate facilities.
