Product Overview
The TOA AN-9001 is an ambient noise sensing microphone that measures room noise so a paging or background music system can adjust its level automatically. Used with a TOA ambient noise control input, this sensing microphone helps maintain consistent intelligibility as crowd and HVAC noise rise and fall. Its flush, flat white baffle mounts unobtrusively in a ceiling or wall. The electret condenser element with integrated preamp is tuned for accurate level detection rather than program audio.
Product Description
Automatic volume control depends on an accurate read of the surrounding noise floor, and the AN-9001 provides that measurement to compatible TOA 9000-series electronics. The microphone captures ambient sound and feeds its level to an ambient noise sensor input, which then raises or lowers paging and music output to keep announcements clear. It mounts into a standard 1-gang electrical box in a ceiling or wall, and its flat white baffle keeps it visually discreet in finished spaces. A rear-mounted removable 3-pin screw terminal simplifies wiring during installation and service. The half-space polar response suits flush ceiling placement where the microphone listens into the room below. Integrators deploy it in spaces with variable occupancy such as transit areas, cafeterias, and large commercial meeting spaces. Because it is a sensing device rather than a program microphone, it is specified as part of an automatic level control subsystem. The result is a paging system that stays intelligible without manual gain adjustments throughout the day.
