The TOA A-2240 CU is a high-performance 240W 5-channel mixer/power amplifier designed for paging, background music, and distributed audio in commercial, institutional, and public facilities. Part of the A-2000 Series, it combines wide frequency response, low noise, and flexible input mixing in a durable rack-compatible chassis.
The A-2240 accepts two electronically balanced microphone inputs (MIC 1 with +21V phantom power), a balanced TEL/paging input, and two unbalanced AUX inputs via RCA jacks, with automatic priority muting that attenuates AUX channels by -30 dB when a microphone or telephone input is active. Outputs support 70V, 25V, and 4Ω speaker configurations on transformer-isolated screw terminals, plus a separate recording output. Bass and treble tone controls of ±10 dB provide ample range for acoustic correction.
Ideal for schools, offices, restaurants, shops, factories, houses of worship, and large meeting rooms, the A-2240 CU delivers cost-effective and reliable audio amplification for virtually any installed single-zone paging or BGM application.
Key Features
| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| 240W Rated Output | Drives high-impedance 70V/25V lines or 4Ω low-impedance speaker loads |
| 2 Balanced Mic Inputs + Phantom Power | Connects dynamic or condenser microphones without additional equipment |
| Balanced TEL (Telephone) Input | Integrates paging from telephone systems directly into the audio distribution |
| 2 Unbalanced AUX Inputs (RCA) | Connects background music sources, streamers, or media players easily |
| Priority Auto-Mute (−30 dB) | Automatically ducks BGM when Mic, Mic 2, or TEL input is activated |
| 70V/25V/4Ω Speaker Outputs | Supports diverse speaker line configurations for flexible zone coverage |
| Recording Output (RCA) | Enables audio recording or connection to an additional amplifier or booster |
| Bass/Treble Tone Controls (±10 dB) | Provides wide-range equalization to match room acoustics or content type |
Typical Applications
The TOA A-2240 CU is the go-to choice for schools and universities needing reliable paging and background music amplification, office buildings and corporate facilities requiring lobby and hallway audio, restaurants and retail stores where BGM with overhead paging is essential, factories and warehouses using multi-source single-zone PA systems, and houses of worship needing high-power music amplification with microphone priority.

FAQ
- Does the A-2240 support constant-voltage (70V/25V) speaker systems? Yes — it provides transformer-isolated 70V (21Ω), 25V (2.6Ω), and 4Ω speaker outputs on screw terminals.
- How does the priority mute function work? When MIC 1, MIC 2, or TEL input is activated, it automatically attenuates AUX 1 and AUX 2 by −30 dB. The activation threshold is adjustable for each input channel.
- Can it power condenser microphones? Yes — MIC 1 provides DC +21V phantom power, which is switchable on or off.
- What is the recording output used for? The RCA recording output (0 dB, 600Ω, unbalanced) can drive an external recording device or serve as a line-level feed to a booster or additional amplifier.
- Is the A-2240 rack-mountable? Yes — at 420 mm wide (16.54"), it fits a standard 19" rack with appropriate mounting hardware.
