Product Overview
The TASCAM SB-16D is a 16-in/16-out Dante stage box designed for live sound, installed sound, and broadcast applications that require remote mic preamp I/O with the audio quality of TASCAM's Sonicview console platform. Each of the 16 mic inputs feeds a Class 1 HDIA (High-Definition Instrumentation Architecture) preamp with -128 dBu EIN, and the unit uses the same 32-bit ADC and 96 kHz sampling frequency as the Sonicview series. Two etherCON-compatible Dante ports support redundant network streams, and an optional DC redundant power input adds a second layer of reliability for live event deployments.
Product Description
The SB-16D connects to any Dante network as a standalone stage box or as a direct expansion unit for the TASCAM Sonicview 16XP, 16dp, 24XP, or 24dp recording mixers. When used with a Sonicview, remote microphone gain control for all 16 inputs is available directly from the console surface. The Class 1 HDIA mic preamps accept signals up to +32 dBu, providing headroom for sudden transient peaks in live performance environments. The 32-bit ADC preserves fine detail in complex mixes while maintaining consistent noise floors across the full gain range. GPIO expansion is built in — the SB-16D provides 8-in/8-out GPIO natively, expanding to 16-in/16-out GPIO when connected to a Sonicview console. Dante Domain Manager is supported alongside AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110, enabling the SB-16D to participate in enterprise-managed Dante networks and interoperate with other AES67-compliant systems. The TASCAM IO Control app for macOS, Windows, and iPadOS enables offline configuration and remote control without a Sonicview console present. Multiple SB-16D units can operate simultaneously on the same Dante network for large-format system builds. The SB-16D is available at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- Class 1 HDIA Mic Preamps — 16 inputs each feed TASCAM's highest-grade preamp design, achieving -128 dBu EIN with +32 dBu maximum input handling.
- 32-Bit ADC at 96 kHz — Same converter specification as the Sonicview console series for consistent audio quality across the system.
- Dual etherCON Dante Ports — Two Dante network ports with etherCON-compatible connectors support redundant streaming for live event reliability.
- Remote Gain Control via Sonicview — All 16 mic input gain levels can be controlled remotely from any connected TASCAM Sonicview console.
- GPIO Expansion — 8-in/8-out GPIO standard, expanding to 16-in/16-out when connected to a Sonicview for parallel control integration.
- Dante Domain Manager Support — Enterprise-grade Dante network management plus AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110 interoperability.
- TASCAM IO Control App — macOS, Windows, and iPadOS app for standalone remote control and offline system configuration.
- Floor Box or Rack Mountable — Deployable as a stage floor box or in a standard 19-inch equipment rack.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the SB-16D require a Sonicview console to operate?
- No. The SB-16D operates as a standalone Dante stage box on any Dante network. The TASCAM IO Control app provides full remote control without a Sonicview console. Integration with a Sonicview adds remote gain control and GPIO expansion.
- How many SB-16D units can be connected simultaneously?
- Multiple SB-16D units can operate on the same Dante network simultaneously, limited only by the network infrastructure and Dante channel count of the connected console or recorder.
- Does the SB-16D support redundant networking?
- Yes. Two etherCON-compatible Dante ports support primary and redundant Dante streams. An optional DC input supports a redundant power supply for additional reliability.
- Is the SB-16D compatible with non-TASCAM Dante devices?
- Yes. The SB-16D appears as a standard Dante device in Dante Controller and is compatible with any Dante-enabled console, recorder, or processor. AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110 interoperability extend compatibility further.
- What warranty applies to the SB-16D?
- TASCAM products purchased through authorized dealers including Creation Networks carry TASCAM's standard limited warranty. Contact Creation Networks for support and service.
