Product Overview
The TASCAM ML-16D is a 1U rack-mount 16-channel analog-to-Dante and Dante-to-analog converter built for AV integrators who need to connect analog audio equipment to a Dante network without a full console replacement. It uses two D-Sub 25-pin inputs and two D-Sub 25-pin outputs, and pairs with TASCAM breakout boxes for XLR or Euroblock termination. The ML-16D is the 16-channel counterpart to the ML-32D, suited to smaller venues, single-room installations, and systems where a full 32-channel converter would be oversized.
Product Description
The ML-16D carries 16 channels of analog input and 16 channels of analog output over a single Gigabit Ethernet connection using Dante. Two D-Sub 25-pin input connectors and two D-Sub 25-pin output connectors connect to mic preamps, console mixers, audio interfaces, amplifiers, and Euroblock devices, or to TASCAM BO-series breakout boxes for XLR or Euroblock termination. Reference level is selectable across five maximum level options — +24 dBu, +22 dBu, +20 dBu, +18 dBu (standard +4 dBu), and +15 dBu (standard +6 dBu) — to match the ML-16D to any professional analog signal chain. Front-panel signal and overload indicators allow real-time level monitoring of all analog I/O. Dante Controller handles routing configuration, and AES67 support enables connection to Ravenna and other AES67-compatible systems. The ML-16D is available at Creation Networks alongside compatible TASCAM breakout boxes and the ML-32D for higher channel-count deployments.
Key Features
- 16-Channel Analog/Dante Conversion — Converts 16 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs to and from a Dante network over a single Gigabit Ethernet cable.
- D-Sub 25-Pin I/O — Two D-Sub inputs and two D-Sub outputs connect to analog consoles, preamps, and outboard gear, or to XLR/Euroblock breakout boxes.
- Selectable Reference Level — Five maximum level options (+24/+22/+20/+18/+15 dBu) accommodate standard professional operating levels.
- Dante Controller Routing — Full Dante Controller compatibility for flexible channel routing across all Dante devices in the installation.
- AES67 Interoperability — Compatible with Ravenna and other AES67-based audio-over-IP systems.
- Signal and Overload Indicators — Front-panel LEDs provide visual level monitoring across all analog I/O channels.
- 1U Rack-Mount — Standard 19-inch rack format for permanent installation and touring deployments.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the ML-16D and ML-32D?
- The ML-16D provides 16 analog input and 16 analog output channels via two D-Sub 25-pin connectors per direction. The ML-32D doubles that to 32 channels with four D-Sub connectors per direction. Both share the same reference level options and Dante/AES67 support.
- Which TASCAM breakout boxes are compatible with the ML-16D?
- The BO-16DX/IN provides XLR female inputs and the BO-16DX/OUT provides XLR male outputs, both connecting via D-Sub 25-pin to the ML-16D. The BO-32DE provides Euroblock termination.
- Does the ML-16D support sample rates above 48 kHz?
- The ML-16D supports 96 kHz operation via Dante. Confirm channel count at each sample rate using Dante Controller prior to system commissioning.
- Can the ML-16D connect to non-Dante AES67 systems?
- Yes. AES67 mode enables the ML-16D to connect to Ravenna and other AES67-compatible audio-over-IP systems.
- What warranty applies to the ML-16D?
- TASCAM products purchased through authorized dealers including Creation Networks carry TASCAM's standard limited warranty. Contact Creation Networks for support.
