What is the TASCAM AP-10?

The TASCAM AP-10 is a compact, half-rack announcement player that plays recorded announcements, background music, or both from an SD card. It runs on a timer for scheduled announcements, or it plays on cue when a sensor, button, control system or tablet sends it a GPIO or Open Sound Control (OSC) trigger. It's built for facilities that need reliable announcements without a full networked paging server: stores, factories, offices, schools, theme parks, and transit stations.

What is included?

  • AP-10 announcement player

  • AC adapter (12V DC)

The 1U rack-mount kit and SD card are sold separately.

How does the TASCAM AP-10 work?

You build playlists in TASCAM Playlist Editor on a PC, then load them to an SD card of up to 512 GB. The editor converts MP3, AAC and other WAV files to the AP-10's 48 kHz/24-bit format and sets volume, delay, start and end points, repeats and fades for each file. Interval mode handles timed announcements, while Direct and Binary modes tie files to control inputs for triggered playback.

The 25-pin D-sub connector carries GPIO in and out. Control inputs let a motion sensor, door contact, button panel, timer or digital signage player fire a specific message, and control outputs can switch lights or other gear during or after playback. Over Ethernet, the AP-10 takes Open Sound Control commands, so a tablet running TouchOSC or a show controller can run audio alongside video and lighting. The balanced Euroblock output feeds any amplifier or mixer, and the AP-10 matches the Roland AR-200R control pin layout for a drop-in replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the AP-10 replace a Roland AR-200R?

Yes. TASCAM matched the AR-200R control terminal pin assignments, so existing wiring carries over.

Does it need a computer to run?

No. You build playlists on a PC with TASCAM Playlist Editor, then the AP-10 runs on its own from the SD card.

How do I trigger announcements?

Use GPIO contact closures from sensors, buttons or control systems, OSC commands over Ethernet, or a timed interval playlist.

Does it have MIDI?

No. It uses Open Sound Control (OSC), a network protocol supported by TouchOSC and most show-control software.

Can it be rack-mounted?

Yes. It's half-rack size and mounts in a standard 1U EIA rack with the optional rack-mount kit.

Can Creation Networks design and install it?

Yes. Creation Networks designs, installs, and supports announcement and background music systems nationwide. Contact us at 888-230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net. See also the TASCAM SS-R250N and CD-400U players.
