Product Overview
The Tannoy VQ 100 3-way dual 12-inch large format loudspeaker is a self-powered, high-output point-source system built for demanding installations that need very high SPL with class-leading pattern control. This large format loudspeaker performs in arrays or as a standalone box, delivering enough power and clarity to cover wide areas singly or in paired clusters while preserving building sight lines and aesthetics. With low-frequency extension to 90 Hz, the VQ 100 pairs with VSX-series subwoofers for extended bandwidth in auditoriums, houses of worship, and large multi-purpose venues.
Product Description

The VQ 100 uses dual 12-inch low-frequency drivers in a semi horn-loaded configuration, paired with a Dual Concentric 3.5-inch and 1.75-inch diaphragm compression driver array for mid and high frequencies. Tannoy's patented PSW waveguide technology aligns the acoustic centres of the drivers to produce a coherent wavefront at the horn throat, while the phase-coherent point-source design delivers exceptional transient response and dispersion control. A 100-degree conical dispersion pattern allows tightly packed point-source clusters, and precise time alignment eliminates interference between driver sources. The system handles 1,300 watts continuous and 5,200 watts peak, producing a maximum SPL of 135 dB averaged and 141 dB peak. Installers can configure the VQ 100 for bi-amp or tri-amp operation to match the amplification scheme of a given project. The internally braced 18 mm birch plywood enclosure is finished in hard-wearing semi matt black paint with a powder-coated perforated steel grille, and it carries eight ergonomically integrated handles plus twelve M10 flying inserts for rigging, with optional vertical flyware rated to a 10:1 safety ratio. Input and link connections use speakON NL4 and barrier strip connectors. Frequently Asked Questions
Can the VQ 100 be used as a single loudspeaker rather than in an array?
Yes. Unlike line array solutions, the VQ 100 produces enough power and clarity to be used individually or in paired clusters for wider coverage while maintaining building aesthetics and sight lines.
Does it need a subwoofer?
The VQ 100 extends to 90 Hz on its own. For applications needing deeper low-frequency output, it can be combined with Tannoy VSX-series subwoofers for extended bandwidth.
How is it powered and configured?
The system is user configurable for bi-amp and tri-amp operation, letting integrators match it to their amplifier and DSP setup. Input and link use speakON NL4 and barrier strip connectors.
What coverage pattern does it provide?
The VQ 100 offers a 100-degree conical dispersion that allows tightly packed point-source clusters and consistent coverage across the audience.
How is it rigged for installation?
The cabinet includes twelve M10 flying inserts and eight recessed handles, with optional vertical flyware rated to a 10:1 safety ratio available separately.
