Supplied as a pair, the DVS 801 is the largest model in Tannoy's DVS 1.0 Series — a newer, weather-rated and life-safety-certified line, distinct from the earlier DVS 8t. A 200 mm (8-inch) mineral-filled polypropylene low-frequency driver is paired coaxially with a 25 mm ferrofluid-cooled soft-dome tweeter crossing over at 3,150 Hz, mounted in a bass-reflex enclosure that gives the model real low-frequency weight rather than the thin presentation typical of surface-mount boxes this size. Power handling is 60 W continuous, 120 W programme and 240 W peak, reaching 106 dB continuous and 112 dB peak SPL, with a recommended amplifier power of 120 W. The 82-degree conical pattern is deliberately tighter than the 401 and 601: mount it high in a warehouse, sports hall, large retail floor or covered outdoor area and it throws usable level to the far end of the space without over-illuminating the area directly beneath.
