Product Overview

The Soundcraft Vi1000 is a 96-channel compact digital mixing console designed for smaller touring productions, rental companies, corporate AV installations, and permanent installs in music venues, theatres, and houses of worship. It delivers the full Vi Series feature set — including the Vistonics II touchscreen interface, SpiderCore DSP engine, BSS DPR901ii dynamic EQ, and integrated Dante networking — in a reduced-footprint frame that fits space-constrained FOH positions without compromising on channel count or processing depth. The Vi1000 is targeted at engineers who need professional large-format console capability with a more manageable physical profile and total cost of ownership.

Product Description

Soundcraft Vi1000 96-channel compact digital mixing console front view

The Vi1000 compact digital mixing console brings Vi Series audio quality and workflow to applications where the larger Vi3000 through Vi7000 frames are not practical. The SpiderCore DSP engine runs 40-bit floating-point processing using the same Studer-derived algorithms found across the Vi range, delivering 96 input channels with 24 mono or stereo mix busses configurable as auxiliary sends, groups, or matrix outputs, plus dedicated LR and centre master busses. Total simultaneous I/O stands at 212 inputs and 212 outputs across all connected sources.

The Vistonics II knobs-on-glass interface provides the same per-channel touchscreen control that has made the Vi Series a standard in professional live sound. Each control is clearly labelled with function-specific colour coding and icons, allowing an engineer to scan channel strip settings across the entire console at a glance — a capability missing from most digital consoles. Faderglow colour-coded fader illumination reinforces layer assignments, reducing the risk of adjusting the wrong parameter when switching between input, output, VCA, or graphic EQ layers during a live event.

On-board I/O includes 16 HQ mic preamp channels, 16 line outputs, two pairs of AES/EBU inputs and outputs, and a 64-channel MADI and Dante recording interface. Two double-slot expansion card bays accept ViSi Connect option cards in MADI, Dante, Aviom, Rocknet, BLU link, SDI, TDIF, ADAT, and other formats, or provide connection points for Vi series stageboxes. The built-in Dante interface enables direct DAW recording and virtual soundcheck over standard Ethernet without additional hardware or licensing.

The processing pool includes 4 Lexicon multi-effects engines with reverb, delay, and pitch effects, plus the only officially-modelled version of the BSS DPR901ii dynamic equalizer available on any console. vMIX automatic microphone mixing handles up to two groups of 16 microphones autonomously — a capability originating in Studer Vista broadcast consoles that is particularly valuable in corporate conference and theatrical applications. Built-in monitoring support for AKG, Shure ULXD/QLXD, and Sennheiser 6000-series wireless systems displays battery, RF, mute, and clip status directly on the relevant channel strip.

Key Features

  • 96-Channel Mixing Capacity — SpiderCore DSP handles 96 input channels to mix with 24 mono/stereo busses and LRC master busses, matching the channel depth of larger Vi format consoles.
  • Vistonics II Touchscreen Interface — Knobs-on-glass design provides labelled, colour-coded direct parameter access for every channel strip, making the console accessible to engineers of varying experience levels.
  • SpiderCore Integrated DSP Engine — 40-bit floating-point processing at 48kHz using Studer-derived FPGA and DSP technology with dedicated Lexicon processing chips.
  • Faderglow Colour Coding — Fader slot illumination changes colour by layer assignment, providing instant visual confirmation of which function each fader controls at any time.
  • Built-in Dante Networking — 64-channel Dante interface included as standard for direct DAW connection, virtual soundcheck, and integration into existing Dante audio networks.
  • 212 x 212 Simultaneous I/O — Total I/O capacity across on-board connections and expansion slots, supporting large stagebox and multi-source configurations.
  • BSS DPR901ii Dynamic EQ — Digitally modelled version of the original BSS analog unit, officially approved and integrated as an insertable processing option across channels and busses.
  • 4 Lexicon Multi-Effects Engines — Lexicon reverb, delay, and pitch effects built in, with processing quality equivalent to dedicated outboard Lexicon units.
  • vMIX Automatic Microphone Mixing — Automatic mixing for 2 groups of up to 16 mics each, reducing operator workload in conference, theatrical, and speech-reinforcement applications.
  • Wireless Mic Monitoring — Integrated status monitoring for AKG WMS/DMS, Shure ULXD/QLXD, and Sennheiser 6000-series systems displayed on channel strips.
  • Two Double Expansion Slots — Accepts ViSi Connect option cards for stagebox connection or additional audio network protocols including MADI, Dante, Aviom, ADAT, and others.
  • Road-Proven Construction — Same electronics and mechanical frame as larger Vi Series consoles, validated across touring and rental deployments worldwide.

Typical Applications

  • House of worship — FOH or monitor console for medium-to-large sanctuaries with in-ear monitoring, wireless microphone systems, and multi-source mixing
  • Auditorium — Main mixing console for mid-size performing arts venues, university theatres, and multi-purpose performance spaces
  • Broadcast studio — Live broadcast and multi-track recording using integrated Dante and MADI interfaces
  • Commercial meeting space / all-hands room — Large corporate AV installs requiring vMIX automixing and Dante network integration
  • Multi-purpose room — Touring and rental applications where compact frame size is required alongside full Vi Series capability

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Vi1000 differ from the Vi2000?
The Vi1000 is a more compact console with a similar 96-channel mixing capacity but a smaller physical frame and reduced fader count compared to the Vi2000. Both share the SpiderCore DSP architecture and Vi Series software platform, but the Vi2000 adds more Vistonics screens, a higher total I/O count (246x214 vs 212x212), and a larger local I/O complement including configurable mic/line slot modules.
Does the Vi1000 support virtual soundcheck?
Yes. The built-in 64-channel Dante interface allows direct connection to a DAW over Ethernet. During virtual soundcheck, previously recorded multi-track audio can be played back through the console as if the band were on stage, allowing the engineer to refine channel settings without performers present.
What stagebox options are compatible with the Vi1000?
The Vi1000 is compatible with the Vi Stagebox, Compact Stagebox, and Mini Stagebox 32i/16i. Connection is made via D21m option cards installed in the two double expansion slots. MADI, Dante, and other stagebox formats are supported through the corresponding ViSi Connect option cards.
Can the Vi1000 be controlled remotely?
Yes. The ViSi Remote app for iPad provides wireless remote control of the Vi1000 over a standard Wi-Fi network, allowing an engineer to walk the room and make adjustments from the listening position during soundcheck.
Is the Vi1000 suitable for installation in a fixed venue?
Yes. The Vi1000 is regularly deployed in permanent installations at theatres, houses of worship, and corporate AV environments. Its Dante integration and ViSi Connect expansion options allow it to connect directly into facility-wide audio networks. The compact frame also makes it practical for installs where console position space is limited.
What warranty and support resources are available for the Vi1000?
The Vi1000 is supported by Harman Professional Solutions with access to the Anytime Help Center, firmware and software updates via soundcraft.com, and authorised service through the Harman service network. Contact Creation Networks for purchase-specific warranty information and regional support options.
