Product Overview

The Sony VPL-FHZ131L/W is a 13,000-lumen WUXGA laser 3LCD installation projector for large venues, in a white finish. It combines high brightness with an infinite dynamic contrast ratio and a 20,000-hour laser light source, plus Reality Creation processing and edge blending for multi-projector displays. Designed for interchangeable lenses (sold separately), it suits auditoriums, houses of worship, museums, and large meeting and education spaces. This is the white, no-lens model.

Product Description

The VPL-FHZ131L/W is the white version of Sony's FHZ131L and shares its full specification. It uses a 3LCD system with BrightEra panels at native WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution and outputs 13,000 lumens, enough for big-screen presentations in brightly lit rooms, with an infinite dynamic contrast ratio for detail in dark areas. Sony's Reality Creation enhances lower-resolution sources without adding noise, and Intelligent Setting presets optimize brightness, cooling, and color for the room. The laser light source runs up to 20,000 hours with maintained brightness and no lamp replacement. A quick-release bayonet mount accepts a range of interchangeable lenses (including a short-throw option), with generous lens shift, up to ±30° keystone, and lens position memory (with the VPLL-Z4111). Inputs include HDBaseT, HDMI, DVI-D, VGA, and 5BNC, with a VGA loop-through output and an optional BKM-PJ20 3G-SDI adapter slot. Edge blending joins color-matched images across multiple units, and the projector integrates with Crestron Connected and Extron XTP via HDBaseT or RS-232. It meets 100% of the sRGB color space in sRGB mode. The white finish is the only difference from the VPL-FHZ131L/B.

The VPL-FHZ131L's strengths are its 13,000-lumen output, 3LCD color (no color-wheel rainbow effect), infinite dynamic contrast, and Reality Creation processing. DLP alternatives such as the Panasonic PT-RZ12K may be preferred where single-chip characteristics are desired; confirm current competitor specifications before deciding.
