Product Overview

The Sony ELF-SR1 is a 15.6-inch 4K Spatial Reality Display that renders stereoscopic 3D content without glasses or a headset. A high-speed vision sensor tracks the viewer's eye position on three axes while a micro-optical lens and real-time rendering algorithm deliver a separate image to each eye. With a 500-nit panel, 100% Adobe RGB gamut, and a dedicated developer SDK, it is a single-viewer tool for 3D design, visualization, and content creation rather than a signage or meeting-room display.

Product Description

The ELF-SR1 produces glasses-free 3D from a 15.6-inch 3840 x 2160 (282 ppi) LCD panel. Sony's high-speed vision sensor follows the viewer's pupils vertically, horizontally, and in depth down to the millisecond; a micro-optical lens bonded over the panel divides the image between the left and right eyes; and an original real-time rendering algorithm generates per-eye content without perceptible lag, so the 3D image holds as the viewer moves. The panel covers 100% Adobe RGB at 500 nits with a 1400:1 contrast ratio, suiting color-critical design work. Connectivity is one HDMI input and one USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen 2) connection to the host workstation. Because the eye-tracking follows a single user, the ELF-SR1 is optimized for one viewer at a time. Sony provides a developer site with an SDK and plug-ins for integrating 3D content pipelines.

Key Features

  • Glasses-free stereoscopic 3D — No headset or 3D glasses; viewing with the naked eye.
  • High-speed vision sensor — Tracks pupil position on three axes (vertical, horizontal, depth) in real time.
  • Micro-optical lens + real-time rendering — Splits left/right eye images and renders per eye without perceptible lag.
  • 4K 15.6-inch panel, 282 ppi — High pixel density for detailed 3D models and content.
  • 100% Adobe RGB, 500 nits — Wide, color-accurate gamut for design and visualization work.
  • HDMI + USB-C connectivity — Connects to a host workstation; USB-C is USB 3.2 Gen 2.
  • Developer SDK and plug-ins — Sony developer site supplies tools to build and integrate 3D content.

Typical Applications

  • 3D content creation and design review
  • Product, industrial, and automotive design visualization
  • Architectural and CAD model viewing
  • Medical and scientific visualization
  • Museum, exhibition, and retail product showcases

Competitor Comparison

Comparison of glasses-free 3D / light-field displays for professional visualization. Competitor figures reflect published specifications and should be confirmed against the latest vendor sheets before purchase.

The ELF-SR1's strengths are a color-accurate 100% Adobe RGB panel and precise eye-tracked rendering for a single operator, which suits focused design and review work. Multi-viewer presentation to a group is better served by a light-field approach such as Looking Glass; confirm current competitor specifications before deciding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it require 3D glasses or a headset?
No. The ELF-SR1 produces stereoscopic 3D viewable with the naked eye, using eye tracking and a micro-optical lens.

How many people can view the 3D effect at once?
The eye-tracking follows one viewer, so the 3D effect is optimized for a single user at a time. For simultaneous multi-viewer presentation, a light-field display is more appropriate.

What do I connect it to?
It connects to a host workstation via HDMI and USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen 2). 3D content is driven by the workstation using Sony's SDK and plug-ins.

Is it suitable for color-critical design work?
Yes. It covers 100% Adobe RGB at 500 nits, which suits design and visualization workflows.

Where can I find development tools and support?
Sony provides a developer site with the SDK and plug-ins. For purchasing and support, see Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net/collections/sony.
