Product Overview

The Sony BRC-H800 (WPW) is a 1"-sensor HD PTZ remote camera for broadcast and professional AV, finished in white pearl to blend into bright or neutral environments. It pairs a 1.0-type Exmor R CMOS sensor and a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 12x optical zoom with smooth, near-silent pan/tilt/zoom, 3G-SDI, HDMI, and IP outputs, PoE+, and genlock. Designed for unattended multi-camera operation, it suits broadcast studios, auditoriums, houses of worship, courtrooms, and classrooms. The /WPW is the US/Canada white model, bundled with the AC-UES1230MT power supply.

Product Description

The BRC-H800/WPW is the white-pearl version of Sony's BRC-H800 and shares its full specification. It captures Full HD up to 1080/60p from a 1.0-type Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor, with 1.7-lux low-light sensitivity and a shallow depth of field for controlled background defocus. A Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 12x optical zoom (29–348mm equivalent, f/2.8–4.5) extends to 24x via Clear Image Zoom in HD, and to 48x in Tele Convert Mode without losing HD resolution. Pan/tilt covers 340° and 120° at up to 60°/sec with 100 presets, plus PTZ Trace Memory and PTZ Motion Sync for repeatable moves. Outputs include 3G-SDI (BNC), HDMI, and IP, with a sync (genlock) input for multi-camera integration and dual front/rear tally lamps for on-air use. Control is via IP, RS-422, and VISCA. A mechanical ND filter wheel (clear, 1/4, 1/16, 1/64) and extensive picture controls support broadcast color matching. PoE+ (802.3at) carries control and power on a single cable; the camera also accepts 12 VDC. It measures 19.8 x 26 x 23.8 cm, weighs 4.3 kg, and runs at NC30 acoustic noise for quiet operation. The white pearl finish is the only difference from the black BRC-H800/1.

The BRC-H800's strengths are its 1"-type sensor with strong low-light performance, Zeiss optics, and broadcast color and genlock integration. It is an HD (1080) camera; where native 4K acquisition is required, the Panasonic AW-UE150 and Canon CR-N500 are 4K alternatives. For 4K from Sony's own lineup, consider the BRC-X1000 or SRG series.
