The SMART CAT5 USB Extender (CAT5-XT-1100) extends USB 2.0 signals over standard CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6 infrastructure cable, allowing a USB-connected PC to be positioned at a distance from the SMART Board interactive display. This extender is designed for installations where a rack-mounted or closet-mounted PC must connect to a wall-mounted SMART Board without running long USB cables across the room. The kit includes both the transmitter and receiver units in black finish, requiring only a standard network cable between them. Maximum extension distance is up to 150 feet (45 meters) over CAT5e or CAT6 cable.
Product Description
The CAT5-XT-1100 transmitter connects to the host PC via USB, while the receiver connects to the SMART Board's USB input; a field-terminated or pre-run CAT5/5e/6 cable bridges the two units. USB 2.0 signal is extended at full USB 2.0 speeds, supporting touch input, stylus, and USB peripheral connectivity between the display and a remotely located PC. This approach eliminates the need for long USB cable runs and avoids the signal degradation associated with passive USB extension cables beyond five meters. The black finish matches typical rack and AV infrastructure aesthetics. The extender is compatible with SMART Board interactive displays that accept standard USB input and does not require additional drivers on Windows or macOS. Both transmitter and receiver are included; CAT cable is not included and must be sourced separately.
