Product Overview

The Shure SCM800 is a full-featured 8-channel rack-mount microphone mixer designed for sound reinforcement, general audio recording, and AV system integration in commercial environments. It accepts any low-impedance balanced dynamic or condenser microphone—including wireless microphone receiver outputs—making it a practical signal routing and mixing solution for conference rooms, government chambers, houses of worship, and production environments requiring simultaneous management of multiple microphone inputs. Up to four SCM800 units can be linked to create a 32-channel system without additional infrastructure, and each channel includes a two-band equalizer, switchable 48 V phantom power, and a 1/4-inch insert for outboard processing.

Product Description

The SCM800 is the manual mixing counterpart to the Shure SCM810 automatic mixer, suited to applications where an operator will actively manage channel levels rather than relying on automatic gain control. Each of the eight channels accepts microphone or line-level signals, allowing the same mixer to interface with both direct microphone connections and wireless receiver outputs, room audio systems, or playback sources. Per-channel two-band EQ allows in-field tone shaping to compensate for room acoustics or microphone placement issues without requiring a separate equalizer. Switchable 48 V phantom power on each channel supports condenser and boundary microphones without an external phantom supply. The 1/4-inch send/receive insert on each channel accepts outboard processing—compressors, gates, or dedicated voice processors—for channels requiring additional signal conditioning. A peak-responding output limiter protects downstream equipment from unexpected signal levels. The SCM800 ships with rack-mounting hardware, a link cable, and removable block terminal connectors for clean permanent installation.

Shure SCM800 8-Channel Microphone Mixer

Key Features

  • 8 Microphone / Line Inputs — Accepts up to eight microphone- or line-level inputs and one aux input, with compatibility for any low-impedance balanced dynamic or condenser microphone, including wireless receiver outputs.
  • Two-Band EQ Per Channel — Per-channel equalizer provides tone shaping to compensate for room acoustics or microphone placement without requiring a separate outboard equalizer in the signal chain.
  • Switchable 48 V Phantom Power Per Channel — Individual phantom power switching on each channel supports condenser and boundary microphones independently, without powering channels connected to dynamic or wireless inputs.
  • 1/4-Inch Send/Receive Insert Per Channel — Standard insert point on each channel allows connection of outboard compressors, gates, or voice processors for channels requiring additional signal conditioning.
  • Linkable to 32 Channels — Up to four SCM800 units can be linked to provide a 32-channel microphone mixing system, suitable for large conference tables, panel installations, and multi-zone audio systems.
  • Peak-Responding Output Limiter — Protects downstream DSP, amplifiers, and recording systems from unexpected signal peaks caused by sudden loud speech or uncontrolled microphone inputs.
  • 1RU Rack-Mount Form Factor — Compact single rack-unit design fits standard 19-inch AV equipment racks; ships with rack-mounting hardware, link cable, and removable block terminal connectors.
  • Mic and Line Level Compatibility — Each channel switches between microphone and line-level operation, enabling use of the SCM800 as a submixer for wireless systems, press boxes, and multi-source AV installations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the SCM800 and the SCM810?
The SCM800 is a manual microphone mixer; channel levels are set by the operator and do not change automatically based on microphone activity. The SCM810 is an automatic mixer that applies gain sharing logic to manage channel levels based on which microphones are active. The SCM800 is the appropriate choice when a dedicated operator will actively manage the mix; the SCM810 is better suited to unattended or minimally supervised installations.

Can the SCM800 power condenser microphones without an external phantom supply?
Yes. Each channel has individually switchable 48 V phantom power, supporting condenser microphones, boundary microphones, and other phantom-powered devices on a per-channel basis without requiring an external phantom power supply.

How many SCM800 units can be linked for a larger installation?
Up to four SCM800 units can be linked using the included link cable, providing up to 32 total microphone channels from a single master output. This makes the SCM800 suitable for large conference tables, multi-room systems, and installations requiring more than 8 simultaneous microphone inputs.

What warranty applies to the SCM800?
Shure provides a two-year limited warranty. Contact Creation Networks for pre-sale system design assistance and post-purchase technical support.
