Product Overview

The Shure SBC840M-US is a networked 8-bay tray charger designed exclusively for SB910M rechargeable batteries used in Shure ADX1M micro bodypack transmitters in the Axient Digital wireless system. Its 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port enables real-time battery monitoring via Shure Wireless Workbench software and integrates with AMX, Crestron, and other control systems via TCP/IP—making it the managed charging solution for large-scale Axient Digital micro bodypack deployments in commercial AV, broadcast, and performing arts environments. Storage Mode and Power Save Mode support long-term battery management without constant network overhead.

Product Description

The SBC840M-US charges up to eight SB910M batteries at 575 mA, reaching 50% capacity in approximately one hour and full charge in three hours. Its compact molded plastic chassis (2.05 x 3.47 x 9.86 in.) fits on equipment tables or shelving in staging areas, green rooms, or AV equipment rooms. Storage Mode charges or discharges cells to 3.8 V for optimal long-term storage—recommended when batteries will be unused for more than eight days. Power Save Mode maintains charging capability while disabling network functionality to reduce power consumption when monitoring is not required. For 2-bay Axient Digital charging, the Shure SBC240 2-Bay Networked Docking Charger is also available at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • 8-Bay SB910M Charging — Charges up to eight SB910M micro bodypack batteries simultaneously, supporting large-format Axient Digital ADX1M micro bodypack deployments in a single charging cycle.
  • Ethernet-Enabled Wireless Workbench Monitoring — 10/100 Mbps network port provides per-bay charge percentage, battery health, temperature, and cycle count data via Shure Wireless Workbench software.
  • AMX/Crestron Control Integration — TCP/IP command string access on port 2202 enables integration with third-party AV control systems for centralized battery management from a control room or rack.
  • Storage Mode — Charges or discharges SB910M cells to 3.8 V for safe long-term storage; run once every 6 months to maintain storage voltage.
  • Power Save Mode — Charges batteries while disabling network functionality; charger powers off 30 minutes after charging completes, reducing standby energy consumption.
  • Per-Bay LED Indicators — Charge status and error LEDs provide at-a-glance battery state without requiring a networked workstation.
  • Vertical Mounting Support — Three mounting points allow surface or vertical mounting for flexible installation in commercial AV environments.
  • PS60 Power Supply Included — Ships complete; no additional power accessories required for deployment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the SBC840M and SBC840?
The SBC840M charges SB910M batteries used in ADX1M micro bodypack transmitters. The SBC840 charges SB910 and SB920 batteries used in ADX1, ADX2, and ADX2FD standard-size Axient Digital transmitters. The two chargers are not interchangeable for battery types.

How does the SBC840M-US integrate with Wireless Workbench?
Connect the SBC840M-US to your network via the rear Ethernet port. Open Wireless Workbench (free download from Shure) and select the network interface. The charger appears in the Inventory tab, displaying per-bay charge percentage, battery health, cycle count, and temperature for all eight positions.

Can the SBC840M-US be controlled by AMX or Crestron?
Yes. The SBC840M-US supports TCP/IP command strings on port 2202, allowing integration with AMX, Crestron, and other third-party control systems. Refer to Shure’s SBC840/SBC840M command strings documentation for the full API.

What is Storage Mode and when should I use it?
Storage Mode charges or discharges SB910M batteries to 3.8 V, the optimal voltage for long-term storage. Use it when batteries will not be in active service for more than 8 days. Shure recommends running Storage Mode at least once every 6 months to maintain battery health.

Is a power supply included?
Yes. The SBC840M-US includes the Shure PS60 power supply and is ready for immediate deployment.
