Product Overview

The Shure SBC220-US is a networked 2-bay docking charger that charges any combination of up to two SB900-series Li-Ion batteries or supported Shure wireless transmitters, including ULX-D, QLX-D, and Axient Digital handheld and bodypack models. Its built-in Ethernet port enables real-time battery monitoring via Shure Wireless Workbench software, and TCP/IP connectivity allows integration with AMX and Crestron control systems—making it the standard networked charging solution for managed commercial AV installations. Up to four SBC220 or SBC240 units can be linked together to share a single power supply and network connection, simplifying cabling in multi-system wireless deployments.

Product Description

Designed for environments where battery state-of-health visibility matters—boardrooms, broadcast studios, government facilities, and houses of worship—the SBC220-US provides both physical charging and full network-based telemetry. Facilities managers and AV system designers can view charge status, battery health, temperature, and errors from any networked workstation running Wireless Workbench, without physically inspecting each transmitter. A dedicated Storage Mode charges or discharges batteries to 3.8 V for long-term storage, preserving cell health during extended periods of non-use. For organizations that need portable desktop charging without network functionality, the Shure SBC210-US 2-Bay Portable Charger is also available at Creation Networks. Power Save Mode allows charging to continue with network functionality disabled, reducing power draw when monitoring is not needed.

Key Features

  • 2-Bay Networked Docking Charging — Charges any combination of up to 2 SB900-series batteries or supported ULX-D, QLX-D, or Axient Digital transmitters docked directly in the charger.
  • Ethernet Connectivity for Wireless Workbench — 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port enables remote battery monitoring, health data, and status reporting via Shure Wireless Workbench software from any networked control station.
  • External Control System Integration — Connects to AMX, Crestron, and other control systems via Ethernet (TCP/IP, port 2202) for unified AV control room management.
  • Ganging Up to 4 Units — Up to 4 SBC220 or SBC240 chargers can share a single PS60 power supply and Ethernet cable, reducing rack clutter in large wireless deployments.
  • Storage Mode — Charges or discharges batteries to 3.8 V for optimal long-term storage, extending battery service life between production cycles.
  • Power Save Mode — Maintains charging capability while disabling network functionality, useful for applications where monitoring is not required.
  • LED Status Indicators — Charge status and error LEDs provide at-a-glance battery state information without requiring a connected workstation.
  • Vertical Mounting Support — Three mounting points on the base allow vertical surface mounting for space-constrained commercial AV installations.

Typical Applications

  • Boardroom and executive conference room networked wireless mic battery management
  • Broadcast studio wireless transmitter charging with real-time health monitoring
  • House of worship multi-system wireless battery staging and monitoring
  • Government space and commercial meeting room AV control integration
  • Training room and all-hands room Wireless Workbench-managed battery logistics

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I dock transmitters directly into the SBC220-US, or only batteries?
Both are supported. The SBC220-US accepts any combination of up to 2 SB900-series batteries or supported transmitters (ULXD1, ULXD2, QLXD1, QLXD2, AD1, AD2, P10R+, P9RA+) docked directly with rechargeable batteries installed. UR5 universal bodypacks are not compatible.

How does the SBC220-US integrate with Wireless Workbench?
Connect the SBC220-US to your network via the rear Ethernet port. Open Wireless Workbench (free download from Shure) and select the appropriate network interface. The charger will appear in the Inventory tab, providing charge status, battery health, temperature, and error details for each bay.

Can this charger be controlled by AMX or Crestron?
Yes. The SBC220-US communicates over TCP/IP on port 2202, providing command string access for integration with AMX, Crestron, and other third-party control systems. Refer to Shure’s command string documentation for the full API.

How many SBC220 units can share a single power supply?
Up to four SBC220 or SBC240 units can be ganged together using the side connector, sharing one PS60 power supply and one Ethernet cable. This significantly reduces cabling overhead in large-format commercial wireless deployments.

What warranty applies to the SBC220-US?
Shure provides a limited manufacturer warranty on the SBC220-US. Contact Creation Networks for commercial procurement, volume pricing, and support options.
