Product Overview
The Shure R185B is a cardioid replacement cartridge for Microflex-series microphones in black finish. Its 130-degree pickup angle at -3 dB provides a balanced combination of directional focus and coverage width, making it appropriate for conference table goosenecks, lecterns, and installed boundary microphone applications where a broader capture area than supercardioid is needed while still rejecting sound from behind the capsule. Compatible with MX and WL Microflex gooseneck, overhead, boundary, and lavalier models.
Product Description
The R185B threads directly onto compatible Microflex microphone bodies via a tool-free cartridge swap, enabling fast field replacement in installed AV systems. The cardioid polar pattern provides good off-axis rejection — particularly from behind — while offering a wider acceptance angle than supercardioid, which benefits applications where the talker's head position varies slightly or the microphone is at a slight distance. For AV integrators managing installed Microflex deployments, the R185B allows polar pattern changes at the cartridge level without replacing full microphone assemblies.
