The Shure R115S is a replacement cartridge and upgrade kit for the Shure Super 55 dynamic microphone, and can also upgrade a 55SH Series II to Super 55 cartridge performance. It includes the Super 55 bracket/cartridge assembly, two long screws, and installation hardware, making it a complete service kit for maintaining or upgrading Shure retro-style dynamic microphones in houses of worship, broadcast studios, and commercial AV live sound deployments.
Product Description
The R115S serves two purposes: as a direct replacement cartridge for the Super 55 microphone when the original capsule fails or degrades, and as an upgrade kit that installs the Super 55 cartridge assembly into a 55SH Series II body. When upgrading a 55SH Series II, the original cartridge is removed and the R115S bracket/cartridge assembly is installed using a combination of the original screws and the two longer screws included in the kit. Wiring differences exist between the Super 55 and 55SH applications: the 55SH uses three wire leads (blue, black, yellow), while the Super 55 installation uses two leads with no blue wire. Proper installation requires basic soldering capability. Facilities without in-house service capability should engage an authorized Shure service center.
