Shure BETA 87C – Cardioid Condenser Vocal Mic
Product Overview
The Shure BETA 87C is a cardioid condenser vocal microphone built for handheld lead and backing vocals in commercial AV and live sound reinforcement. Its warm, natural sound and strong rejection of sound behind the vocalist make it well suited to in-ear monitoring setups in performance venues, houses of worship, and broadcast studios. The handheld design and rugged build support reliable daily use in installed and touring systems.
Product Description
The BETA 87C is a premium electret condenser handheld vocal microphone with an exceptionally smooth, high-end-extended frequency response and a gentle presence rise tailored for vocals. Its uniform cardioid polar pattern delivers maximum gain-before-feedback and excellent rejection of off-axis sound, creating an ideal environment for in-ear monitoring where rejection behind the singer matters. A controlled low-frequency roll-off manages proximity effect for consistent tone during close-up use, while the advanced cartridge shock mount absorbs handling noise. The dent-resistant steel mesh grille, built-in pop filter, and aluminum housing withstand the rigors of daily sound reinforcement. As shown in the product images, the microphone connects to standard XLR inputs and shares a capsule platform with Shure wireless handheld transmitters, giving AV system designers a consistent vocal sound across wired and wireless deployments.
