Product Overview

The Shure AD2TA/K9N=-K54 is a TAA-compliant Axient Digital handheld wireless microphone transmitter fitted with the KSM9HS Nickel condenser capsule, operating in the K54 frequency band (606–663 MHz). Designed for commercial AV deployments where government procurement and Buy American compliance are required, this transmitter delivers professional-grade wireless audio with AES-256 encryption and High Density (HD) transmission mode. It pairs with Axient Digital receivers to form a complete wireless system suited to high-channel-count installations in commercial meeting spaces, broadcast studios, and government facilities.

Product Description

The AD2TA/K9N=-K54 brings the full Axient Digital RF platform to TAA-compliant procurement channels. Operating in the K54 band (606–663 MHz) with selectable RF output power of 2, 10, or 35 mW, it gives integrators the flexibility to optimize coverage versus spectral density for their venue. Note that K54 band output is limited to 10 mW above 608 MHz per FCC rules. High Density mode narrows modulation bandwidth to 125 kHz channel spacing, dramatically increasing the number of active channels in a limited spectrum environment. AES-256 encryption is built in, making this transmitter appropriate for government spaces and secure commercial meeting rooms. The KSM9HS dual-pattern condenser capsule (cardioid/supercardioid-switchable) provides extended frequency response and low handling noise ideal for vocal performance and presentation use. Up to 11 hours of battery life are available with the Shure SB900C rechargeable lithium-ion battery, with external docking contacts for in-place charging.

Key Features

  • TAA Compliance — Meets Trade Agreements Act requirements, enabling procurement through GSA schedules and federal contracts without additional waivers.
  • K54 Band (606–663 MHz) — Suitable for deployments in regions where the K54 band is preferred or mandated; always verify local frequency coordination before deployment.
  • KSM9HS Condenser Capsule (Nickel) — The dual-pattern KSM9HS delivers extended frequency response and low self-noise in a rugged, interchangeable cartridge format compatible with all AD/ADX series transmitters.
  • AES-256 Encryption — Hardware-level encryption prevents unauthorized monitoring of audio transmissions, required for secure government and corporate environments.
  • High Density (HD) Mode — Narrows channel spacing to 125 kHz, enabling dramatically more concurrent wireless channels in spectrum-constrained venues.
  • >120 dB Dynamic Range — Wide dynamic range ensures clean audio reproduction from quiet speech to high-SPL vocal performance without compression artifacts.
  • Selectable RF Power (2/10/35 mW) — Adjust transmit power to match venue geometry; K54 band is limited to 10 mW above 608 MHz per FCC regulations.
  • Up to 11-Hour Battery Runtime — Shure SB900C lithium-ion rechargeable battery with external charging contacts for docked recharging without removing the battery.
  • 100m Line-of-Sight Operating Range — Reliable RF link across typical commercial spaces and auditoriums when paired with Axient Digital receivers.
  • Cast Aluminum Housing — Rugged metal construction with a backlit LCD and menu/power lockout to prevent unauthorized changes in commercial deployment.
  • Interchangeable Cartridge — Compatible with all Shure AD/ADX replacement cartridges (SM58, Beta 58A, Beta 87A, KSM8, KSM9, VP68, and more) for capsule flexibility.

Typical Applications

  • Boardroom and executive conference room wireless microphone systems
  • Government spaces requiring TAA-compliant AV equipment
  • Broadcast studio talent microphones requiring encrypted RF links
  • Commercial meeting spaces and multi-purpose rooms with high channel counts
  • Auditorium and house of worship vocal applications
  • Training rooms and all-hands rooms requiring reliable wireless coverage

Frequently Asked Questions

Which receivers are compatible with the AD2TA/K9N=-K54?
This transmitter is compatible with all Shure Axient Digital AD and ADX series receivers (AD4D, AD4Q, ADX4D) operating in the same K54 frequency band. Always match transmitter and receiver band labels before deploying.

What does TAA-compliant mean for this product?
TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliance means this product is manufactured in a country covered under the Agreement, making it eligible for procurement through GSA Schedules and federal contracts requiring Buy American compliance. This applies to many government and defense AV deployments.

Can the capsule be swapped in the field?
Yes. The KSM9HS capsule is fully interchangeable with other Shure AD-series replacement cartridges (RPW series), including SM58, Beta 58A, Beta 87A, KSM8, and VP68, without tools and without affecting transmitter performance.

Does this transmitter work with Wireless Workbench software?
Yes. The AD2 transmitter is monitored and managed through Shure Wireless Workbench 6 (WWB6) when paired with a compatible Axient Digital receiver on the same network. WWB6 provides remote gain adjustment, frequency coordination, and RF performance monitoring.

What is High Density mode and when should it be used?
High Density (HD) mode reduces channel spacing to 125 kHz versus 350 kHz in Standard mode, enabling more simultaneous active channels in a given frequency range. Use HD mode in high-density deployments such as large conference facilities or broadcast sets where spectrum is limited and transmitters are in close proximity to the receiver.

What warranty applies to this product?
Shure provides a two-year limited warranty on the AD2 transmitter body. Contact Shure support or your authorized AV dealer for warranty service and RMA procedures.
