What does the Shure A900-CM do?

The A900-CM solves the specific problem of getting a Shure ceiling array microphone securely and permanently fixed to a ceiling, at the right height and orientation, without over-engineering the install. The kit ships as two plates: a ceiling plate that anchors to the building structure, and an adapter plate that attaches to the top of the microphone itself.

During installation, the ceiling plate is secured first — to a joist for drywall or plywood ceilings, directly into concrete, or onto a standard 4-inch octagon junction box where one is already in place. The adapter plate is then fastened to the microphone using the included M4 screws. The two plates slide together and lock with the included Allen wrench, so the microphone can be lifted into position and secured in one motion rather than juggling loose hardware overhead.

Because the two plates separate independently of the ceiling anchor, the microphone can also be removed later for service, cleaning, or replacement without disturbing the mounting hardware itself — useful on any install where the AV team may need to service the microphone array after the ceiling is finished and painted.
