Product Overview
The Sharp XP-A824U-W is an 8200-lumen laser projector with advanced professional installation features for higher education, corporate, and large-venue use. It combines WUXGA (1920 × 1200) resolution with a filter-free sealed LCD cooling system, extremely quiet operation, and a complete line of optional motorized lenses with powered shift, focus, and zoom. As a high-end WUXGA installation projector, it offers HDBaseT in and out, edge blending, lens memory, and DICOM simulation support. This white-cabinet model ships without a lens, so a compatible Sharp lens is selected separately to match the throw distance.
Product Description
The XP-A824U-W is part of Sharp's A Series of advanced installation projectors, built for permanent, high-uptime deployments. Its laser-phosphor light source is rated for 20,000 hours, and the sealed LCD cooling system enables a filter-free design with quiet operation as low as 28 dB in Eco mode. The 0.76" 3LCD engine with 10-bit processing and a dynamic iris produces 8,200 lumens (8,600 center lumens) with a 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and accepts signals up to 4096 × 2160. Because it ships without a lens, integrators select from motorized options spanning ultra-short-throw to long-throw, including the XP-44ML fixed UST lens and the XP-50ZL, XP-40ZL, XP-41ZL, and XP-43ZL zoom lenses, with powered shift (horizontal ±10%, vertical +50%/-10%), focus, zoom, and lens memory for recallable presets. Advanced geometric and cornerstone correction allow projection onto spheres, cylinders, and angled surfaces, and portrait mode supports 10:16 vertical images. Connectivity is extensive: three HDMI 2.0 inputs (HDCP 2.2), HDBaseT in and out for daisy-chaining video, audio, and control between projectors, LAN, and RS-232, with Crestron, Extron, AMX, and PJLink compatibility plus remote diagnostics and ProAssist software. Picture-in-picture, edge blending, and stacking support multi-projector and mission-critical installations. A five-year warranty backs the projector. Frequently Asked Questions
Does the XP-A824U-W include a lens?
No. It ships without a lens so integrators can match the throw distance. Compatible motorized options range from the XP-44ML ultra-short-throw fixed lens (0.32:1) to the XP-43ZL long-throw zoom (2.99–5.93:1), all with powered shift, focus, zoom, and lens memory.
Does it require filter maintenance?
No. The sealed LCD cooling system is filter-free, and the laser light source is maintenance-free, supporting low-upkeep permanent installations with quiet operation.
Can multiple units be daisy-chained?
Yes. HDBaseT in and out lets you pass video, audio, and control from one projector to the next, and edge blending and stacking support multi-projector walls and combined-brightness setups.
Can it project onto curved or angled surfaces?
Yes. Geometric and cornerstone correction support spheres, cylinders, and corner angles, and portrait mode enables 10:16 vertical images.
What is the difference between the -W and -B models?
The XP-A824U-W has a white cabinet and the XP-A824U-B has a black cabinet; specifications are otherwise identical.
