Product Overview
The Sennheiser SR2020-D-US Single Rack-Mountable RF Transmitter/Receiver Kit is an entry-level ADA-compliant assistive listening system for venues requiring a single-zone wireless coverage solution. Operating in the license-free 926–928 MHz frequency band, this single rack-mountable RF assistive listening system includes one SR2020-D-US transmitter and five HDE2020-D-US stethoset receivers — a complete out-of-the-box kit for smaller auditoriums, conference rooms, and houses of worship meeting ADA assistive listening requirements. For venues that need to cover multiple zones or provide redundancy, the dual-transmitter version is available separately.
Product Description
The SR2020-D-US Single kit centers on one rack-mountable RF transmitter that installs in a standard 19" equipment rack using the included GA 2 rack-mount kit. The transmitter features a backlit LCD display for easy status monitoring and an intuitive menu system for channel selection and input level adjustment. The balanced XLR-3F mic/line input accepts signals from microphones, mixers, and other audio sources. Switchable 48V phantom power makes the transmitter compatible with condenser microphones without requiring an external phantom supply. A front-panel 1/4" headphone jack lets the AV operator monitor the transmitted audio signal at the rack without additional monitoring gear.
The transmitter operates across 6 selectable channels in tour-guide mode and 8 channels in conference mode within the 926–928 MHz ISM band — no FCC license required. Indoor range reaches up to 50 m (164 ft); outdoor range extends to 100 m (328 ft). Optional remote antennas can be added when coverage needs to reach balconies, overflow areas, or adjacent rooms, making the single kit a reasonable starting point for venues that may expand their listening system over time.
The five HDE2020-D-US stethoset receivers each feature a backlit LCD display, a large rotary volume control, and an auto on/off function triggered by wearing or removing the headset. The in-ear earpieces reduce ambient sound bleed while keeping the audio feed clear. Integrated rechargeable batteries power each receiver through a full session, and the included carrying case stores and charges all five receivers between events. ADA-required signage is included in the kit.
Key Features
- License-Free 926–928 MHz RF Band — Operates in the US ISM band with no FCC license required, reducing regulatory overhead for permanent venue installations.
- Rack-Mountable Transmitter — Installs in a standard 19" rack via the included GA 2 rack-mount kit for clean, permanent integration in AV equipment rooms.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Does this system require an FCC license to operate in the United States?
- No. The SR2020-D-US operates in the 926–928 MHz ISM band, which is license-free in the United States. No FCC license application or frequency coordination is required before deployment.
- Q: How does the single kit differ from the dual kit?
- The single kit includes one SR2020-D-US transmitter covering one channel and zone. The dual kit includes two transmitters, allowing simultaneous coverage of two separate rooms, a primary and backup channel, or two language streams from a single rack position. If your venue requires expanded coverage or multilingual interpretation, consider the dual kit.
- Q: How many listeners can use the system at the same time?
- The SR2020-D-US broadcasts on a single RF channel, and any number of compatible receivers tuned to that channel will receive the audio simultaneously. The five included HDE2020-D-US stethosets are a starting point; additional EK2020-D-US body-pack receivers can be added as needed.
- Q: Is this system ADA compliant for assistive listening?
- The kit is designed to meet ADA Section 4.33 requirements for assistive listening systems. ADA-required signage is included. Venues should verify their specific compliance obligations with a qualified AV consultant or accessibility specialist.
- Q: What audio sources can I connect to the transmitter?
- The balanced XLR-3F input accepts mic-level signals (2 mV–125 mV) and line-level signals (160 mV–2.5 V). The switchable 48V phantom power supports condenser microphones. You can connect a mixer output, a direct mic, or any other balanced analog source.
- Q: Can I expand coverage if the default range is not sufficient for my venue?
- Yes. Optional remote antennas can be added to extend RF coverage beyond the default 50 m indoor range for larger or more complex room geometries, such as venues with balconies or divided seating areas.
- Q: Can I add more receivers beyond the five included?
- Yes. Compatible EK2020-D-US body-pack receivers and additional HDE2020-D-US stethosets can be added to accommodate larger audiences. Contact Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net for receiver availability and pricing.
- Q: What is the warranty on this product?
- Sennheiser provides a standard manufacturer's warranty on the SR2020-D-US. Contact Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net for current warranty terms and post-sale support options.
