Product Overview
The Sennheiser SR2020-D-US Dual Rack-Mountable RF Transmitter/Receiver Kit is a complete, ADA-compliant assistive listening system designed for large venues where multiple zones or redundant coverage are required. Operating in the license-free 926–928 MHz frequency band, this dual rack-mountable RF assistive listening system includes two SR2020-D-US transmitters and five HDE2020-D-US stethoset receivers — providing everything needed to deploy a production-ready wireless listening loop out of the box. The kit is well suited to houses of worship, auditoriums, and government spaces where ADA compliance for assistive listening is a legal requirement.
Product Description
The SR2020-D-US Dual kit ships with two single-channel, rack-mountable RF transmitters that install in a standard 19" equipment rack. Each transmitter features a backlit LCD display for at-a-glance status monitoring and an intuitive menu for fast channel selection and level adjustments. The balanced XLR mic/line input accepts signals from microphones, mixers, and other audio sources, with switchable 48V phantom power for condenser microphone compatibility. A front-panel 1/4" headphone jack allows the AV operator to monitor the transmitted signal directly at the rack without additional equipment.
The system operates across 6 selectable channels in tour-guide mode and 8 channels in conference mode within the 926–928 MHz ISM band — no FCC license required. With a stated indoor range of up to 50 m (160 ft) per transmitter and up to 100 m (330 ft) outdoors, coverage can be further extended by adding optional remote antennas. The dual-transmitter configuration means you can cover two separate rooms simultaneously, run a primary and backup channel, or serve different language streams in a multilingual interpretation setup.
The five included HDE2020-D-US stethoset receivers each feature a backlit LCD display, a large rotary volume control, and an auto on/off function that activates when the headset is put on and powers down when removed — extending battery life between charges. The in-ear earpieces deliver consistent audio while reducing ambient noise bleed. An integrated rechargeable battery provides extended operating time, and the included carrying case doubles as a charging station for all five receivers. ADA-required signage is included in the kit.
Key Features
- License-Free 926–928 MHz RF Band — Operates in the US ISM band with no FCC license required, reducing regulatory overhead for venues.
- Dual Rack-Mountable Transmitters — Both transmitters mount in a standard 19" rack via the included GA 2 rack-mount kit, keeping equipment organized in a permanent installation.
- 6/8 Selectable Channels — Six channels in tour-guide mode, eight in conference mode, allowing multiple systems to coexist without interference.
- Balanced XLR Input with 48V Phantom Power — Accepts mic or line-level signals and powers condenser microphones directly, eliminating the need for an external phantom supply.
- Front-Panel Monitoring Jack — 1/4" headphone output on each transmitter allows the operator to verify the outgoing audio signal at the rack.
- Auto On/Off Stethoset Receivers — Receivers power on when worn and off when removed, preserving battery charge between sessions without manual intervention.
- Charging Carry Case Included — The five stethoset receivers store and charge in the included carrying case, simplifying receiver management between events.
- Expandable RF Coverage — Optional remote antennas can extend coverage beyond the default range for larger or architecturally complex venues.
- ADA Signage Included — Required ADA assistive listening signage ships with the kit, addressing one of the common compliance checklist items.
- Backlit LCD on Transmitters and Receivers — Operators and users can read channel and status information in low-light environments without difficulty.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Does this system require an FCC license to operate in the United States?
- No. The SR2020-D-US operates in the 926–928 MHz ISM band, which is license-free in the United States. No FCC license application or frequency coordination is required before deployment.
- Q: How does the dual kit differ from the single kit?
- The dual kit includes two SR2020-D-US transmitters instead of one. This allows simultaneous transmission on two separate channels — useful for covering two rooms, running a primary and backup channel, or providing multilingual interpretation streams from a single rack position.
- Q: How many receivers can operate simultaneously per transmitter?
- Each SR2020-D-US transmitter broadcasts on a single channel, so the number of simultaneous listeners per channel is theoretically unlimited — any number of HDE2020-D-US stethoset receivers or compatible EK2020-D-US body-pack receivers tuned to that channel will receive the audio.
- Q: Is this system ADA compliant for assistive listening?
- The kit is designed to meet ADA Section 4.33 requirements for assistive listening systems. ADA-required signage is included. Venues should verify their specific compliance obligations with a qualified AV consultant or accessibility specialist.
- Q: What audio sources can I connect to the transmitter?
- The balanced XLR-3F input accepts mic-level signals (2 mV–125 mV) and line-level signals (160 mV–2.5 V). The 48V phantom power switch enables use of condenser microphones. You can feed a mixer output, a direct mic, a hearing loop induction source, or another analog audio device.
- Q: Can the coverage area be extended beyond the default range?
- Yes. Optional remote antennas can be added to expand RF coverage for larger rooms or venues with architectural obstacles such as balconies or divided seating areas.
- Q: What is the warranty on this product?
- Sennheiser provides a standard manufacturer's warranty on the SR2020-D-US. Contact Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net for current warranty terms and support options.
- Q: Can I integrate this system with an existing AV infrastructure?
- Yes. The balanced XLR input connects directly to a mixer or DSP output. The front-panel headphone jack allows in-rack monitoring. The system operates independently of any network infrastructure — no IP configuration is required.
